I had the use of one of these for a while. It was surprisingly sharp,
even wide open, but definitely not as good at controlling flare as the
FA 20 F2.8 (which is demonstrably sharper). In the end I bought the FA
20 instead, sacrificing the speed. But the Sigma is definitely a good lens.

The short form is that optically the lens does what I need. It's wide
and fast, and in the lighting situations that I'll be using it, the
optics aren't the weak link in the sys
