Check to see if the Firewire port has 4 contacts in it or 6. If 4, you

I didn't buy the adapter.
I have no problems with using batteries since the AA Form factor is so
convenient. I do use a card reader and don't have any issues with that
but
could just as easily just plug the camera into the computer to download my
images.
