I took the cage outside to release the five that were ready. I wasn't planning to shoot them on my hand, and indeed the first images I took were of butterflies in the cage, on the top of the cage, and opn the wooden decking on which the cage was resting. When I glanced up and saw the blue sky

It's still too early to raise and release Monarchs, so I started first with a small group of Painted Lady caterpillars. Five of the six emerged from their chrysalises today, and I released them this evening. Documenting the releases was a bit tricky, as I had to hold the camera with one hand
