I erred slightly: this guy is not a crocus genus, it's a colchicum,
but its common name is autumn crocus. To further confuse things
there are real crocus species that are autumn flowering.
For perspective, this bloom is the size of a regular tulip.

there are two versions of the tamron. one with 49mm filter thread and a
later version with a 55mm filter thread. which one did you test? I think
they are the same optically so it probably doesnt matter much other than
build quality, the 49mm version one is superior to the 55mm version.
