Hi all,
Just a quick question.
I was playing with my new K1 yesterday, doing some macro on a copy-stand.
(50mm macro + 100mm extension tube)
With the camera pointing straight down, it was nice to be able to fold the LCD
upwards
to make it easier to see. This was fine for the viewing (and live

I just use cards for the most part. I take a laptop as well, but it’s not
essential. I just like to process a few files on quiet evenings. A 64 gig card
will store enough for my two week trips, and I set the camera to back it up to
the second card. I would bring a second pair of cards as
As I finally got to work on photos, I am continuing posting photos of
the cars that most people don't get to see every day. (At least - I
don't.) These shots are sort of "opportunistic" in nature, but I think
some of them are interesting.
This "puzzle" will be more difficult for Alan. :-)
There are two kinds of bicyclists on Haleakala in Maui.
The first are those who ride in vans with racks full of bicycles up to the top,
and ride down.
The second are those who bicycle all the way up (from the base, 10,000 feet and
24 miles) and then ride down.
Both are crazy.
I assume those clouds are below (at least partially), right?
Seeing the clouds below the grass makes it a bit surreal.
I wonder if you also had another shot, much more zoomed in, so that the
bicyclists are more dominantly seen being above the clouds.
That would be a very different story but
Really impressive!
And in this view, it looks almost as a great work of a taxidermist.
Cheers,
Igor

So sorry for the loss of your friends, but glad to hear (I assume) that

Igor,
The whole place =is= surreal. When I first got up there, nothing was visible
except the mountain and the clouds below us.
It is also vast, and the humans are puny indeed. Their scale in the photo is
deliberate.
Thanks for looking and commenting!

It’s an early ‘50s Mercury

It's a Mercury, late 40's or early 50's.

I just use cards and delete as required. Cards are relatively cheap, easy to
carry - I also use a card wallet and orient the used card differently than the
empty cards.

Thank you, Paul!
It looks like it is Mercury Eight (3rd generation):

Well, my flight is tonight. Arriving Thursday the 14th first in
Sydney, then on to Queenstown in the NZ south island. Will spend
about 3 weeks in the upside down. I'll be in AUS starting the 26th
and leave the 2nd. Should be fun. Can't wait!
