Speaking of exhibitions...
My wife and I went to the Paul Strand exhibition at the Philly Art Museum yesterday. It is excellent: all phases of his career (most of which I was unaware of) are well represented, including a few motion pictures. If you are in striking distance of Philly, make a trip. It runs through Sunday. GESO: Hydnora Africa
Now here's something unusual for you. These are shots of a root parasite, Hydnora Africana, which flowers every year in the rainy season. The usual host is a member of the Euphorbia family but this one is oddly parasitizing an Acacia (Knoppiesdoring). The pollinating agents are dungbeetles as shown in the last shot. It was a grey day so I used a 500W halogen for illumination. All taken with the K7 an SMC Pentax M 50/1.7 https://www.flickr.com/photos/wisselstroom/sets/72157649989661071/ If you want to know more about Hydnora Africana, go here: http://www.plantzafrica.com/planthij/hydnorafric.htm Alan C --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. http://www.avast.com -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

PESO Gandalf the test victim
Santa was especially good to me and delivered five boxes of Paul C Buff gear on Dec 24. I've been unpacking and reading manuals since then and am _finally_ lighting things up to test it all out. Here's my go-to model, Gandalf the Russian Blue kitty. I just have to run the brush over him a few times and tell him what a handsome feller he is, and bingo ... https://500px.com/photo/94031109/gandalf-by-bruce-walker K-3, DA 35mm F2.8 Macro, f:8.0, 1/125th sec, ISO 100 Einstein 640 monolight, 22 beauty dish with 15 degree grid above Lightroom (very little retouching) Enjoy! -- -bmw -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

I think it's my best so far. http://gallery.multi.net.nz/photo/842/ The raspberries came from a friend's garden, freshly picked this morning. They're about the best I've ever tasted. I'd prefer to keep the kiwifruit slices whole but it's easier to slice the pav if I cut them into smaller pieces. Right, time to get out and enjoy the sun.
