There is a lot to like in that image. If people have not looked at the
larger version, I highly recommend it, the smaller/initial one that they
show looks like the compression bumps vibrance etc. to the photos detriment.

You did a good job of keeping the color in challenging light. The
symmetry suits it well. I don't suppose you bracketed the photo? I'd be
interested to see what Lightroom's HDR function could do at bringing out
shadow detail without blowing out the highlights, without dialing up the
tone mapping to to teenager.

RE: PESO - Relaxed in La Jolla

2016-12-02 Thread John Coyle
Perfect timing, we've just replaced the railings on my apartment building, at a
cost of A$120,000
for 14 units, seven floor building. Most of the cost was the builders having
to erect a swing stage
to get to the various levels, plus, for the second time, rectifying concrete
cancer where found -
very little, fortunately. We went for powder-coated aluminium, as the previous
painted steel had to
be repainted several times over their 35-year life, and the rust emanating from
their fixings was
what caused the cancer!

That's a good idea, but it ain't cheap. A home-owner (condo owner) might find
it feasible when they
have to replace the railings the first time they corrode into nothingness, but
it's probably just an
unnecessary extra cost from a commercial developer's point of view.

By the time those railings have to be replaced, the developer will have gotten
his money and been
long gone.

Well ... it was also a play on the old Star Truck meme "Dammit Jim! I'm a
doctor, not a [insert job description here]."

I actually have nothing against lawyers, but lawyer joke are funny.

I understand full well the line from Shakespeare's Henry VI, Part 2 was NOT
a proposal for a good thing. It was a prescription for how the characters
were plotting to overthrow the government planned to implement their
tyranny. They expected lawyers to stand against them in their coup d'état.

FWIW, I tell blond jokes too, and I'm a natural blond.

And, yes Larry, they match.

... and musician jokes. "How do you know when a drummer is at your front

That was my thinking precisely. My cost for the book is about $175 and
I had a discount code for 40% off which brought it to around $120.00
including shipping. I had to order a second book after making some
minor adjustments to 6 or 7 images after the test print. So my total
cost came to about $240.00. The experience of making a portfolio book
like this is far more beneficial (from an education/experience

You can't imagine how much extra snark we have lying around here. What
other state could have a guy that looks and acts like an extra from the

Well ... it was also a play on the old Star Truck meme "Dammit Jim! I'm
a doctor, not a [insert job description here]."

I actually have nothing against lawyers, but lawyer joke are funny.

I understand full well the line from Shakespeare's Henry VI, Part 2 was
NOT a proposal for a good thing. It was a prescription for how the
characters were plotting to overthrow the government planned to
implement their tyranny. They expected lawyers to stand against them in
their coup d'état.

FWIW, I tell blond jokes too, and I'm a natural blond.

And, yes Larry, they match.

... and musician jokes. "How do you know when a drummer is at your front
door?"

I quite agree. I'd have taken the railings to get powder coated to give them
some sort of chance in the conditions.

Malcolm

That's a good idea, but it ain't cheap. A home-owner (condo owner) might
find it feasible when they have to replace the railings the first time
they corrode into nothingness, but it's probably just an unnecessary
extra cost from a commercial developer's point of view.

By the time those railings have to be replaced, the developer will have
gotten his money and been long gone.
