Some really nice images, Larry, especially the jays.

Thank you Alan.

I’m pretty sure that I used the Bigma with all of the photos except the
Turkeys. The Bigma is a bit large to conveniently carry on my bicycle.

I had a real dilemma today on my bike ride. I was making reasonable time and
the same flock of turkeys was crossing the road, I was actually quite close to
some of the chicks, and was tempted to stop and pull out the camera, but I was
also fairly certain that had I done so, the chicks would have hurried off into
the bushes while I was still fumbling to get the camera out of the bag.

Blondes Brunettes? I’m afraid it’s been a while since I’ve photographed any
birds in British colloquial, or chicks in American colloquial.

Bird photo backlog

I’m catching up on about a month of backlog of bird photos. The towhees and

You just did. And I agree with you. We need about a 40% reduction, as a
minimum. If it happens, it will be selective but not in a way most people
would want. Areas of high population will be decimated.

Interesting question. Possible reasons:
they are aggressive, flying predators
they display what appears to be curiosity - walk into their territory and they
will hover in front of your face, apparently examining you.
part of their jaw shoots forward to capture prey, rather like a dragon shooting
fire.

Or you could get all folklorey about it.

I think they look cute.
