I have driven through the UP East-to-West and West-to-East several times, but
am most familiar with Pictured Rocks and Munising area generally. [These images
are from that area… https://photos.stanhalpin.com/p355522230 ] Other images
from that general area: https://photos.stanhalpin.com/p735513422 On the west
end of Munising, on MI-28, is (or was anyway…) a small walk-in/carry-out
restaurant, IMHO one of the best sources of Cornish Pasties. But you will have
many opportunities for this “local” dish throughout the UP. [In the late 1800s,
early 1900s there were many immigrants from Cornwall to the UP, attracted by
the copper mining and related jobs. Meg’s grandparents were part of that…] Just
a bit west of Munising, Marquette is a nice college town with good lakefront,
good brew pubs. There are numerous waterfalls and small lakes in the Hiawatha
National Forest, SE of Munising. If you drive east from Munising, staying as
close to Superior as you can, as far as Deer Park on CR-H58 there are multiple
spots with good access to the lakeshore etc. Driving back west on US 2,
Manistique has nice lakefront parks on the Lake Michigan shoreline. Tahquamenon
Falls State Park and Seney National Wildlife Refuge are both worth the trip!
If/when you get as far east as Tahquamenon Falls, it wouldn’t be that much
further off to the NE to Sault St. Marie and the Soo Locks. I recommend
Lakeshore Drive which branches off of MI-123 a bit south of Paradise, takes you
to a junction with I-75 a bit south of Sault St. Marie. Or SE to St. Ignace, a
short ferry ride to Mackinac Island. If you get that far east, the Straits
State Park just SW of Ignace provides great viewpoints of the Mackinaw Straits
bridge. At the western end of I have been told that the Porcupine Mountains
Wilderness State Park is also good but haven’t made it there yet. A link that
may be useful…

If it's just more efficient, that's "Yeah, yea ... whatever."

But if it's more effective, do they have a plan for those who already got a

Maybe a third jab with Pfizer or Moderna?

Re: Semi-OT: Relocating a Frank Lloyd Wright House

2021-07-07 Thread Daniel J. Matyola
Basically, "Frank Lloyd Wright’s Bachman Wilson House, built in 1956 in
Millstone, New Jersey, opened to the public on November 11th in
Bentonville, Arkansas. The house was disassembled on the original site and
transported to the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, for preservation
and public display."

Images here:
https://www.google.com/search?q=Bachman-Wilson+House=1C1CHFX_enUS482US482=ALeKk00QHenD6CEkC3qkjJUBPwEkCYtHAA:1625686207465=lnms=isch=X=2ahUKEwjEwaWH2dHxAhUyszEKHZS6DykQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw

It was a real treasure, but had ben constructed in a damp location near the
Millstone River and canal, and deteriorated rapidly. I very much enjoyed
the tour of the house the owners gave to our Rotary Club, and I am sad to
see it migrate down south. I don't understand why it couldn't have been
preserved by a museum in this area.

In Spain we also had a mess with AZ, age groups and 2nd dose.
They ended up giving it to a narrow group of population (60 to 65 y/o) and
those younger already jabbed could chose their second one. Most people chose AZ
over Pfizer, that was NOT the government preference.
I got 2n Pfizer 3 weeks ago. Cases are growing very quickly for the last 2
weeks but this time they affect mainly to <30's thanks to vaccination, so
hospitals are not as impacted this time.
