Lightroom troubles are an unsupported GPU

It turns out that the GPU in my trashcan mac is no longer supported, and GPU
acceleration causes weird artifacts to happen in develop mode. If anyone else
runs into this problem try turning off GPU acceleration.

Meanwhile, I guess it's time to start a casual search for a good used Apple

January PUG comments

2024-02-05 Thread Stanley Halpin
Two of the images in last month’s PUG are burned into my mind - I can’t stop
seeing them!

John’s Eclipse was just a masterwork in minimalism. All other things equal, I
think I prefer eclipse images where the sun is just emerging out of the shadow,
but still John’s image is just about as good as you can get IMNSHO. No
distracting elements, nicely framed, just the sun and moon.

And then there is Paul Sorenson’s Fiesta!! I like the colors, the overall
composition, the placement of the objects within… Nicely conceived and nicely
done.

The PUG is always a treat. Thanks again Brian.

Re: OT Photoshop 2024 help

2024-02-05 Thread Bill
I opened the image in Photoshop, drew quite loosely around the tripod
head with the lasso tool, then edit/generative fill and clicked fill
with nothing in the dialogue box.

If you do too tight a selection Photoshop will screw it up, it needs
surrounding detail to create the fill so you need to give it plenty of
elbow room. The selection I gave it was about the same size as the globe.

My understanding is that generative fill in it's present form creates
everything at a maximum resolution of 1024x1024. The people who know
more than me seem to be using fixed size boxes at that size and then
doing multiple passes with generative fill with higher resolution images.

One of the things you might have received with your subscription is
access to Photoshop Beta which is the test bed for Photoshop, so new
features appear there and as they are perfected they then trickle into
Photoshop 24 as updates.

For example, the image I posted was done on Photoshop Beta version 25.0.0
