The bank holiday has been shifted this year to 8 May to coincide with VE

Yes, day trips are only viable when the tides are right - and they're
probably not by the sound of it. To get a full day in Guernsey, it might be
necessary to have 2 nights there so you'll have to decide on that basis.
Keep in touch off-list as I'm not here often these days...

Thanks Ann. of course it was completely planned. I saw the 3 women
walking along the street, thought "I've got 12 seconds on the
self-take timer so if I press the button at the right time they'll be
in the shot". If you believe that, you'll believe anything...

..the "Gherkin" in the background was intentional though.

I didn't have the nerve to get Gilbert and George so well done there. For

Excellent set Ann. Winslow Bucks is very different, as you can imagine.
It's recorded in the Domesday book of 1086 so has been around for a short
while...

Bob will have to confirm, but the nightingale reference is because of the
Florence Nightingale hospice charity shop on the left. Maybe Bob is
thinking of another song, "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square"?

Incidentally we carried on to visit the historic Clayton House where
Florence used to spend her summers as she was a friend of the owners.

Chris's jersey is vintage (mine are faux vintage).

Chris's MX is pre-1979 I believe; my Leica M3 is 1959, the 50mm lens is

Our charming companion, not seen in the video, is of course still only 21,

Well well! No, I visited Kingston only once. I was based at the ex
Folland plant in Hamble near Southampton. This was in the Hawker
Siddeley days just prior to nationalisation and the establishment of
British Aerospace, so 1969 to around 1978. I think the Hunter work, by
then, was for a refurbishment programme, maybe for the Swiss airforce.
Hamble didn't have an airfield so only made bits and pieces. Some of
them were significant including most of the Harrier fuselage and
Trident wings and tailplanes. There was also a sectioned off bit
making chunks of Blue Streak missiles, but I'm probably not supposed
to talk about that even now!

Very good Dan - and through a canopy too?

They used to make canopies for Hawker Hunters, Harriers and Hawks in
the aircraft factory where I did my apprenticeship. Very specialised
and I remember seeing a bloody great sheet of hot Perspex being draped
over a greasy wooden mould. It was then subject to a lot of polishing
to make it optically perfect and to remove any distortion - after all,
the pilot ideally would want to see the target / runway in the right
place.. It took many hours.
