Bruce, I've been asking myself the same question lately. I currently have an Epson R220, but I do not use it for printing photos. If I could figure out this whole inkjet printing game, the R1900 would be a good deal ($500) to save money in the long run. I'm just a little printer-shy due to my R220 experiences... Mike Gad! I thought figuring out what lenses I needed was research- intensive enough. I note from your trip narrative that you drove past my favourite part of BC, that being the New Denver area. Thanks, Bill. I spend a week in that area every summer. My parents have built their retirement home 10 minutes south of Nakusp, so I get out to Sandon, New Denver, and Kaslo on a regular basis. At the moment, Im having a hard time locating my card reader. My desk is a bit of a sty. I have taken photos of these items, and will provide images once I have them onto the web. FA 20-35 f/4 -- excellent condition. I purchased this new from BH in 2006. Includes original caps, hood, lens bag. $415 DA 50-200 ED f/4-5.6 -- excellent condition. Bought last summer. It's not a lens that I use often. Includes original caps, hood. $160 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 28mm f/3.5 -- legendary optics, supposed best of the 28s. This is the 49mm filter design. Tiny, thin scratches on front element, probably about 3mm long. Body hood are in very good condition. $60 Zenitar 16mm f/2.8 -- very good condition. Includes original front rear caps, clear rear filter (and I'm sure that I have the others around also - just have to find them!), and original lens bag. $130 MZ-5 body -- used this body for a few rolls of film. Very nice to use. Flash spring is broken, so it does not pop-up. Still works, but requires a finger to hold it in position. Wasn't an issue for me, the tiny on-board flashes are rarely used. $50 Prices do not include shipping, from Edmonton, Canada. Contact me off-list at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks! I found that my local camera store (McBain Camera) is ordering the last 23 Panasonic L1 camera/lens kits available in Canada, and is selling them for $800. I'm picking one up when they arrive. I tried one out in-store today, and really liked how it felt in my hands. The lens was a little large for my liking, but I'll get used to it. Not as large as I thought it might be. I'm also used to the DA Limited lenses, which make any other lens seem obese by comparison - even my FA 20-35 f/4! Thanks for the advice, everyone. OT: Panasonic L1
Hey all, I've been interested in the Panasonic L1 since it was released, and I'm now considering purchasing one for $400 (without the legendary Leica kit lens). What are the limitations of using K-mount lenses on this body? As far as I'm aware, they need an aperture ring (so my FA20-35 would work, but the DA21 would not). How is metering via adapter? If I could get the Leica 14-50 2.8-3.5 with it for $800, I might go for that... Any significant issues that you've come across? I'm planning to use this body to complement my K10D. FS: FA 20-35 F4 AL
An excellent lens that I may end up regretting the sale of. I bought this lens from BH 2 years ago to replace the 18-55 kit lens, and also as an occaisional wide angle for film use. I have owned it since new. The rendering of this lens is amazing. It's sharp, produces beautiful colours, and allows for pretty close focus. It's also very compact. The FA 20-35 can be used for ultra-wide angle on film SLRs also. The condition of the lens is very good. There are some very minor scuffs on the body of the lens. Glass is impeccable. No visible dust internally. Aperture ring clicks smoothly. FS: Asahi Spotmatic SP, S-M-C Takumar 200/4
Two items: 1) Asahi Spotmatic SP (chrome) - recently replaced the foam seals on the door, body, and mirror stop. All shutter speeds are accurate. Meter works. Overexposes by 0.3-0.5 due to 1.5v battery (instead of 1.35v as originally intended). Body is in very good condition. Some rubs near the tripod mount (to be expected). Small mark on top of prism due to hotshoe adapter (also included, with new foam to protect prism). Self timer works. Asking $100 (EX condition at KEH is $133). 2) Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 200mm f/4 - very good condition with very minor marks around barrel. Focus is very smooth, as is aperture ring. Glass is in fine condition, some dust inside lens, but not much. Including front cap (original in excellent condition) Asking $50. Shipping from Canada. Estimate of $17 to USA for either item. Will provide exact quote if requested. Thanks. Could some kind soul please explain in really small words and easy to understand concepts just exactly what this is? The array is 2 500gb drives that show as a single 1tb drive. Thanks Striping is where two or more drives are treated as one. All information is recorded over the two drives, so there are bits and pieces on both. It's used to speed up read/write access. It's not useful for backups. If one drive fails, you lose the data on both drives due to the way the data is shared over the two drives. HTH.
