I wonder how the vans would sell if VW made a new one? The beauty of the really old ones was that you could fix the engine with a nail file. They make new ones! They just don't import them to the US. But you can buy them even in Mexico. Of course, they are front-engined and not forward control, and you won't be able to fix the engine with duct tape and bail wire, but hey. You could probably make a really nice reliable camper from a turbo diesel VW T5. If you guys think the Pentax world is full of obsessive geeks, take a look at the world of VW buses... Thanks guys! Steven, yes, they are great vehicles. I've had mine for almost three years now, and I've spent the last two preemptively changing every part I could think of and afford. They can be money pits, but they are both fun to drive and really versatile.
