I did not quite like the seemingly burnt out bright areas there, but Julia pointed out that this is excellent photo. Well, I think you did just fine, Mike. Julia seems to agree. Thank you, Boris. I wish I could recover the burnt out highlights in that image, but I can't seem to recover them. I'll try it again. I like that you and your wife both look at these images. :) -- -- Cheers, [EMAIL PROTECTED] MichaelHamilton.ca -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
RE: GESO: Northern Exposures
Hi Mike, I've been meaning to comment on your gallery for a couple of days now. I like it very much. Some images are strikingly beautiful and others are just everyday 'day in the life' images that have a familiar feeling to them. If I were to edit it, I'd say that 1424.jpg and snow3.jpg, detract a little or do not add to the gallery. These two images don't strike me as having a powerful impact like the others. It could be my aversion to chain link fences. Nice job. If were running a coffee shop with wall space, I'd let you hang your photography. :-) Tom C. Tom C. I like almost all of these. The only one that doesn't really grab me is the full shot of the house in the snow. Otherwise, good work. -Brendan --- Mike Hamilton [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: One of my goals for 2007 is to have some of my photos exhibited at a local coffee shop. From: Mike Hamilton One of my goals for 2007 is to have some of my photos exhibited at a local coffee shop. I'm choosing images that reflect my life for the past 2 years, living as a teacher in northern Alberta. This gallery is not final - you will notice that I have a duplicate (actually a PESO that I posted not too long ago). I'd like your opinions on my choices, the gallery as a whole, and the images individually. I greatly appreciate this! Thank you. Starting top row left, I'd drop the 3rd 5th images. No 3 is flat and looks blown out. The color version shown in no 2 is far superior. No 5 doesn't speak to me at all. Perhaps if there was more snow in the background, or snow drifting onto the posts - some indication the fence is almost lost in the snow; something that says this is snow in the far great white north. As it is, it looks like the day after it snows in North Carolina where I live. Another 48 hours and you'll be walking around in Burmuda shorts and playing golf again. Second row - no 4. would be a stronger photo if there was some interaction between the man and the cows or the man and the camera, or the man and something, anything ... First row no 4, second row no 2 and third row no 3 are very strong images, although I believe you can find a stronger foreground for the aurora if you keep at it. Third row no 3 might be a candidate for HDR treatment. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
