Well I'm much tempted by interchangeable lens RF.
But I also know I won't but any 1000 dollars camera just to try if I
like it or not.
So, basicaly anything good to play a bit would do it. If
interchangeable, then fine, if not.. that's it.

Get yourself the old standby, a Cannonette GIII 1.7. You will probably have to
refoam the back, not a hard job. For $50 or so you can find out if you like
rangefinder cameras, I love them. Or if you are willing to spend that thousand
get a Leica M3, in some ways they are nicer than the new
If you want to play with a rangefinder 35mm camera for the experience
of seeing what it's like, any of the Canon Canonets or Minolta
HiMatics are available for nearly nothing and have decent lenses.
The Cosina/Voigtländer RFs are based on the same chassis that was
sold as the Nikon FM10,
