The time to get them sitting still (around here at least) seems to be early in
the morning. They come out of their nests and perch for a while before flying.
Once in the air they're non-stop.
Works out because the light's best then anyway.

backgrounds, looks unnatural. Although that is the way I have gotten most
of my deer shots. Heh.

I was thinking of your shots while I took those. I got a few of them sitting
still but they were perched on the grass and wouldn't let me get very close.
I'll try again some day. I like watching them fly around but it's pretty
frustrating trying to keep them in the finder when they get close.
5 photos, which are pretty much all near-misses. It's hard enough tracking
them at 400mm but the AF isn't helping. I'll try again some other time.
These little birds are quite pleasant to watch as they skim along just above
the grass eating insects on the wing. But they change direction
