FWIW, I have camera + phone NFC capable and the photo transfer process is much
more convinent that the wifi ones that I have tried. So it may make a slight
difference difference for those who like to share a lot.
Apple iOS does not support NFC though (other than Apple Pay)...

Way better DR, way better high ISO. Like a generation better. Its a no
brainer unless you can't afford it IMO.

Re: K-s2 vs K70?

2017-05-17 Thread P. J. Alling
Unless you plan on doing photography that actually requires the pixel
shift I wouldn't worry about it. For your described shooting style it
seems to be particularly useless for any hand held application. It
wouldn't hurt to have it but then you'll probably want to invest in a
very good tripod, which if you don't own one already, well, the price is
actually shocking.

I think the other advantages of the K70 are more important, it's higher
resolution, thought 20 vs 24mp isn't that important, but, (these are all
in the K70's favor), it got a bigger buffer, higher available ISOs,
better live view AF, faster frame rates, not that the buffer is all
that, but you'll get faster shot to shot times both raw and JPEG.

I think the only real advantage of the K-S2 at this point is it has NFC
connectivity, (is that really an advantage), and slightly lighter weight.

If the price difference is not a big factor get the K70, except for
minor cosmetic differences the body and handling of the two cameras is
pretty much the same.

If I saw a K-S1 or K-01 at a good price, I'd grab it, mainly becase
those cameras are light so good for travel. Anyone selling one?

My main question, though, is whether anyone has opinions on the
relative merits of K-S2 and K-70. Lokking at the web, the S2 is a
little cheaper & lighter, but not enough to really matter. The main
advantage of the 70 is that it has the sensor-shift high-res mode.
Have people found that useful?

Re: K-s2 vs K70?

The k-70 has a MUCH better sensor than the KS-2. It is a better sensor
than even the K-3 has. It also gains 14-bit raw. I would pick the 70
over the S2 any day. It does lose GPS FYI.
