I have no problems with the FA*80-200/2.8 on the K10D.
Apertures set just fine, exposures are OK.
Your aperture blades are slow. They always start fully open so you
can have bright focusing (and you meter at open aperture). When you

Sounds like sticky aperture blades. They're not stopping down fast enough. The
lens will ned a CLA.

Sounds like a classic example of a sticky aperture lever. Flip the lever
on the lens a couple times, if it's at all slow in returning, get the

hyper-program shifting or by using Av mode at 2.8.

even if forever stuck at 2.8 it would still be a nice lens
(well, apart from minor details like weight, size)
originally I bought it for low light conditions anyway
(and because I needed a replacement after some uninvited
visitor(s) abused my absence to releive me
