the meter just by moving the film advance lever as was in the original
statement. BTW with main camera switch I've meant a shutter lock
collar - just a different terminology IMHO.

But there is a difference, you usually can't use a main power switch to
hold the shutter open for a long time exposure, you can use a shutter
lock collar for that.
