Sorry, I misunderstood your comment about the Sigma 3.5 - obviously I
was thinking of a different lens.

I have it's fraternal twin, the Tamron version, fantastic lens, puts
all the primes that went before it to shame performance wise but you
have to be mentally prepared to deal with its bulk and weight, it's
hulking.

I was referring to the fact that there are two Sigma EX 10-20mm: a 3.5 and
a 4-5.6. I have the latter and it is my favorite lens.

I’m a bargain hunter myself and really worked that angle before making
the decision to go with the 15-30.
I already have an FA 20-35 f4, so I was looking for something that would
do better . The 20-35 is good at the wide end when stopped down to f8 or
11 and is very good at the long end. But a

I'm really glad you posted about using this lens for shooting the milky
way. As it turns out the trip I'm taking up north in a couple weeks puts
will put me literally about 2 miles away from a dark sky preserve at the
tip of Michigan's thumb.
I've never tried shooting the milky way before but
An LN???

Alternative purchase:
KEH has a LN- for $1035.
Alternate purchases (2&3)
As a “bottom feeder” I’m more than happy with my Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6
(bought used for $350). B&H has one now for $285.

Thanks for pointing that out. I hope to be up north in a couple weeks,
maybe where the milky way is visible. If the opportunity comes up I'll
give that a try. Very nice shots in that album!.

Thank you. That lens, or one like it, was pretty much why I bought the
K-1, the angle of view, speed and sharpness of the combination. Anyone
who has that lens and camera body should definitely spend some time
outside at

Luiz's question about astrophotography reminded me that I find that one
thing I use mine for a lot is night time landscapes. I've gotten some
really nice shots of the milky way simply by pointing the camera at it
and taking 30 second exposures using Astrotracer.

I love that lens. I don’t use it a lot, but it is perfect on the wide endfor
car interiors. And at 30mm, it’s a nice landscape lens, capBle of capturing
plenty of detail.

I took it out for a couple hours this afternoon, a little more dedicated
test than just randomly shooting though the results are more or less the
same. I'm glad I got it - though I have to rethink the camera bag
situation in light of its size.

In many ways, that lens was the biggest reason for me to buy the k-1, in order
to get an angle of view, speed, and sharpness that I wouldn't be able to match

I pretty much agree with your impressions.
