Well, the winding problem *was* the subject of the posting. I added
the ps so as to explain why I rushed without first checking here the

I expect it will fail to outshine the -5n in any department that
matters to me.
Well, you may find manual focusing easier with the Super A, compared to the
5n, even though the Super A does not exactly have the best focus screen
that Pentax ever made.

It comes pretty close though, I think only the MX and LX are better.

The Super A/Super Program is great for eyeglass wearers in that it
has quite a good eye relief (high eye-point).
This is true.

I bought a Super-A on eBay last night, described with the following
fault: the number saying what picture it is doesn't move round when
you wind the film on. What is this and is it fixable?

Unlike many cameras that operate very happily with a non-functioning frame
counter, the Super A's shutter will be forever locked at 1/1000 second with
the meter switched off. As a power saving and anti fogging feature its
shutter and meter have this by-pass applied to them from the moment the
It can be caused by other less repairable issues as well. but it will be
the spring if you're lucky.

The last few times I've used my Super Program, it seemed that it wound
the film awfully tight, making it difficult to advance the film. It
didn't do this when I first got the camera. Is there anything I can do
to prevent this or do I need to take it for a CLA?
Thanks,
