Well caught, Larry. Its beauty is in in its ugliness. Could be in my backyard. That's the sort of scene I hope for in Kruger but it rarely find it. Surely a snake? I'm pretty sure it's a snake, in retrospect I could have gone and looked more closely once they had both flown away. From what I can tell, I'd guess it was a gopher snake. I didn't have time (being at work at a construction site) to grab a real camera, but the bird was really bold and I could get as close as about 5 feet from it and had to get the shot just because I could.
