It was 6MP and it was the first real consumer DSLR of any decent quality (after the D30). I knew from that point I would never be going back to film. When the MZ-D was mooted, I thought it was just a matter of time until Pentax released a digital body. By the time the *istD arrived, I was already onto the Canon 1D series and having too much (expensive) fun. I might possibly have invested in the K-7 or -5 if they had come out earlier, but by then I had some nice EF L lenses. The horse had already bolted! And now my photography has changed and I have no need for DSLR systems. If the K-1 was released 10 years ago, OI would be on it like a bonnet. I'm sure those that acquire the K-1 will be over the moon with it and I wish them well! -- Cheers, Cotty ___/\__Broadcast, Corporate, || (O) |Web Video Production -- _ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

My photography has changed completely since those days, and now I am much more into reportage, 'street', candids. I was, still am, thinking about a Fuji X100T but since the announcement of the Olympus Pen F, I am 50/50 on one or the other. I love the idea of swapping out lenses depending on desire. While on the subject of Mike Johnston, I see he does a column in a British mag called Black and White Photography, or some such similar name. This month was - damn, I can't remember what it was about this month, but I remember that as I was reading it, I was thinking, my, this is interesting... Ah, I remember now, it was about black and white, and how stable the prints are compared to colour. Yeah, it was interesting. This was last month :-) This month Mike writes on how to fight photographer's block. Regards, Lukasz

Does Cotty even have his LX anymore? Didn't he dump all his Pentax gear when he went over to the Dark Side (well, one of the dark sides - the Dark Canon Side g)? Hi, Lukasz, Sometimes magazines from overseas are a bit slow arriving here in the Colonies. The one I was referring to, I read at a newstand just this past weekend. But, now that I know he contributes every month, I'll look for him. thanks, frank Lukasz Kacperczyk wrote: This was last month :-) This month Mike writes on how to fight photographer's block. Re: Well I'll be!
How much are you thinking of asking for the MX? Hi G/w Hmmm, I've not priced it up yet. It all works with no sticky shutter etc, so I'm thinking of a ballpark figure roundabout the sort of maybe about kind of £150 ish. No CLA for some years. With a full Pentax CLA, I'd be looking at £250 but I've got to get it out of the bag (only just back from Scotland/Wales 1800 mile round trip so not quite with it yet) but IIRC it is pretty much mintish. Exc++ maybe. I've gotta sort all that out. I won't entertain any offers just yet, until all the facts are in, as General Buck Turgidson says. Need to get it all sorted out. Since we're the Pentax list, we should probably get this correct from the start. The camera is apparently called: *ist D (lower-case i, since it's a suffix) Not D *ist (which would sound like deist, a believer in deism, the rational belief in the existence of a non-interfering God not subject to revelation) Just thought the local editor should mention that.
