Poor Homa has those zeroes which get confused with the 5! (Not your problem, though!) The zeros are not that big. I'm sure people experienced with the script won't have problems. On a separate note, you should see Mosahab's Persian Encyclopedia (orignially published in 1345, reprinted with a few corrections by AmirKabir in 1380, ISBN 964-303-044-X). To avoid ambiguity problems with a dot, a middle dot, a five, and a degree sign, he uses a big European zero in Perian contexts. (۱۲۳0 and things like that, if your mailer reads UTF-8.) Dr Masoumi-Hamedani, from the Persian Academy, has told me that it was Mosahab's work that convinced everyone they should use hollow zeros in Persian. Of course the prefernce is with a small hollow zero. Just big enough to make the hollowness show. I'm thinking you should widen the space in Koodak some more. Try typing Reh+Kaf+space+Reh+Kaf. The Reh and Kaf problem is a kerning issue. We will be trying to solve that after our first stable release (1.0). I was going to complain about the diacritics being too far from the letter they're supposed to be accompanying but if I switch to Nafees Naskh, I don't see too much improvement. That will also be improved after 1.0. Perhaps it's the OS's fault, not the font's. It's usually the font's. Depends on the OS, of course. To get a font working on both Win9x and WinXP, you'll need to redo the work and have two tables in the font, one for each. We will go with the new way of course. roozbeh ___ PersianComputing mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.sharif.edu/mailman/listinfo/persiancomputing

New beta release of Persian Fonts
A new beta version of FarsiWeb project's Persian fonts is now available. This contains various improvements to the original Koodak beta, and contains new fonts Roya (Normal and Bold), Titr, and Homa. According to our best knowledge, these are the first Unicode compliant versions of these fonts, and the first set of fonts ever to conform to the Iranian national standard ISIRI 6219. The fonts currently support the Persian and Arabic languages. This is a beta release and contains known bugs, so use the fonts at your own risk. But we appreciate bug reports or requests for enhancements. Bug reports should be sent to the email address [EMAIL PROTECTED]. (Please note that we cannot answer all the emails sent to the address.) You can download your copy from: http://www.farsiweb.info/font/farsifonts-0.2.zip The fonts are conforming to the Unicode, ISIRI 6219, and OpenType standards as much as possible (they will be made conforming to Adobe glyph naming standard in a later release). The support will increase in newer versions, which will contain more fonts, more glyphs, and most importantly, support for small sizes for selected fonts which make them suitable for web use. You can freely share and distribute all of the fonts, if you don't sell them directly, or change or rename them. Some of these fonts are licensed under the GNU General Public License (http://www.gnu.org/licenses/licenses.html#GPL), which will give you even more rights as a user and developer. For more details, see the license field of the fonts themselves, and the file COPYING or COPYING.txt in the zip file. Other kinds of licensing is also available from Sharif FarsiWeb Inc, which can be contacted at [EMAIL PROTECTED]. The FarsiFonts project is sponsored by the High Council of Informatics of Iran (http://www.shci.ir/) and Sharif University of Technology (http://www.sharif.edu/). We wish to thank them for supporting standards and free software. I finally wish to thank Behnam Esfahbod, Elnaz Sarbar, and Behdad Esfahbod for their work on the fonts. This was impossible without their labors. Roozbeh Pournader, Sharif FarsiWeb Inc ___ PersianComputing mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.sharif.edu/mailman/listinfo/persiancomputing
