If your database server is on a remote server then expect the page to take
even longer to render since it will take time to send the database query
info back and forth between the two servers.

magic quotes insert the slashes when inputing text
but when you want to display it again then you
have to stripslashes.

You need to add slashes when putting data into
your database. When you want to display the data
from your database, that's when you strip the
slashes.
