Both 4.3 and Head still have a problem with mbstring not being default under win32. Exif module can be compiled but not loaded because it uses a function from mbstring. Exif tests for HAVE_MBSTRING and COMPILE_DL_MBSTRING. The question is why HAVE_MBSTRING is defined but COMPILE_DL_MBSTRING is
