[PHP] anyone know what ical and outlook are programmed in?

2003-02-16 Thread Kevin Myrick
Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what iCal and
Outlook are programmed in offhand. I have an ambitious
but probably not so thought out plan on builing some
mods for phpwebsite based off of phprojekt,
squirrelmail, myphpcalendar, and was thinking I would
write my own address book, but will probably use the
one built into projekt.

This info will help me greatly, because I'll write
files that will pass the address book and schedule
info from Outlook, and just the schedule infor from
iCal, onto my system (if it is even possible...)

Thanks,
Kevin Myrick

PS- Where would I look to find the PEAR libs
documentation on what each function, in each file,
does. I plan on printing this out so I can take a clos
e look into designing my system... PEAR is used in the
new version of phpwebsite (currently 0.9.0RC4) and
wanted to use this common function system to do the
rest of the design for me.

Re: [PHP] Re: Pre-built CMS - Anyone recommend one?

2003-01-13 Thread Kevin Myrick
I would recommend phpWebSite @
http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu .

The newest version coming out is very promising, and
uses the PEAR libraries. It is XML compliant. Better
than the NUKE clones, etc.

  Criteria:

  * Must be easy to fix templates for the html/css

  Anyone make a recommendation?

  Many thanks...

If your looking for a book Karl, I would suggest PHP
Advanced by Larry Ullman.

Very easy to follow, very quick to help you figure out
things.

Takes a small amount of knowledge to learn, probably
should know some programming.

Thought that might help

As they say, Just Do It. Ask specific,
 PHP-related questions as you have
them. If you don't know anything about using PHP
and MySQL, buy one of the
many fine books available on the subject. Or, you
 could just pay someone
 to do it for you.

Re: [PHP] Re: need help with project

2002-11-03 Thread Kevin Myrick
Check out FFL on Sourceforge.net. Currently, it is
still a standalone PHP app, but in the near/coming
soon future they are going to have it as a PHPWebsite
Module.

That is nice for me, since I have just converted to
PHPWebsite (would have used nuke, but it pissed me off
when it wouldn't let me do ANYTHING to config and
install), so I will probably go ahead and download it,
add it to my site somewhere, then use the module when
it comes out.

Will be nice to see how it works.

Hope that helps somewhat.

[PHP] Been looking for a tutorial on how to create themes in general

2002-11-03 Thread Kevin Myrick
Ok, like I stated in my last message, I am using
PHPWebsite as my portal system.

However, I would like to learn how to do custom
themes, because like sooo many aspiring web
designers/programmers, I got an imagination a mile
long and deep.

So, anyone want to point me in the right direction on
a theme creation tutorial, seeing as Sourceforge
doesn't want to help me out?

Thanks,
Kevin Myrick

[PHP] I need some help: PHP portal site/creating email accounts through form submission

2002-07-31 Thread Kevin Myrick

Ok, I admit, I am relatively new to PHP.

But I have some good ideas of what I want to do, and I
have a client who wants to have a portal for his
LANParty Site, and I am working on that, somewhat
successfully. I am trying to use PHP-Nuke, but it
won't load on his FreeBSD server. Any ideas?

I also want to do a signup form for his site so when
people join the community forum, they will
automatically be given an email username and password
for his site.

Any help would be very greatful.

Thanks,
Kevin Myrick

Re: [PHP] I need some help: PHP portal site/creating email accounts through form submission

2002-07-31 Thread Kevin Myrick

Specific problems? Ok, I think I can do something
about that...

I am not sure how many emails he can handle, but I am
pretty sure he can create as many as he wants.
Basically unlimited accounts. I am pretty sure that
the permissions would be aimacable to do that, as in
755 permissions on his server.

I also can tell you he uses neomail to run his web
based email services. Anything else at this time, I
couldn't tell you.

So my specific problem is this: How do I create a new
user account on a *NIX system to have permissions to
send and receive email, for a web based email system.

BTW, I don't declare. I demand. ;)

I think you'll need to start from the beggining and
 post specific
problems. That's a bit vague to get a decent
 answer Also, we don't
even know how the system works: Does he have the
 ability to create
unlimited emails? The permissions to do that? etc
 etc
