[PHP] Browscap.ini

2002-10-28 Thread Scott Fletcher
Any anyone tell me about this? I know it is about browser detection
software or something.

What I want to know is is it good for general use? Can it be used on UNIX
server for PHP to interface with? Does it require a lot of update or
something? I saw on that website that describe about BrowseHawk utility,
so. blah blah. Feel free to fill me in on this since people who use it
know better than I do. :-)

I found this weblink, http://www.cyscape.com/browscap/.

Something snatched my last post on this so this is more of a test right now.
I'll explain how to crash PHP 4 with browscap.ini if this makes it.

Re: [PHP] browscap.ini

2002-05-28 Thread Stefan Rusterholz

Hi

Sorry, but this one is pretty old, an excerpt from the website:
   browscap.ini download
   Current version: 2.5
   Last updated: February 2000
   Download size: 14 KB

February 2000

I took the following: http://asp.net.do/browscap.zip (found in the
user-comments for get_browser())
It's from October 2001. But that's still not new enough...

[PHP] browscap.ini

2002-03-28 Thread webbie

Is there somewhere a standardized/universal browscap.ini?

It seems to me that everyone simply snatches one from someone else and then
builds on top of it.

The most recent browscap.ini files that I find out there are still missing Lynx
and Mozilla handlers.

It would be nice if there were a type of open-source browscap.ini resource where
everyone contributed $HTTP_USER_AGENT strings as new releases come out.

[PHP] Browscap.ini

2001-05-19 Thread Weston Houghton

So...

I cannot for the life of me get browscap.ini to work.

Also the browserhawk version of the browscap.ini is sadly out of date.
Anyone have any leads for me on getting this to work? I consistently get an
empty array returned.

Thanks,
Wes

First, get_browser() seems to break in every other release, particularly on
Windows. You might want to search bugs.php.net to see if it will work at all on
your system version.

If you are using a build with a functional get_browser(), check out
asptracker.com for a more recent browscap.ini.

[PHP] browscap.ini

2001-03-27 Thread Joseph Blythe

Hey all,

I know you do not want to hear this question but after reading the list
archives and doing extensive searches with google I have a really large
internet headache, so here we go:

Where do I get a browscap.ini file that is current and will work in Linux?

The one suggested in the manual doesn't seem do work properly, it only
outputs 2 lines under ie5.5:

browser_name_pattern: blah blah
parent: gobbely gook ascii

I found another but it parse errors for no apparent reason.

What is the deal? Any tips regarding detecting browser capabilties would
be great (mainly js and cookies)

Any help always appreciated,

Regards,

Joseph
