[PHP] Host that allows edit of php.ini
Apologies if this type of question is frowned upon in the mailing list, however I would like to pop the question to those in the know. Can anyone recommend a UK host that allows you to edit ( or a copy of ) the php.ini file, allowing me to increase the file upload size to 100mb for clients PDF artwork files. I wish to create an upload site for my print firm. Your recommendations are greatly appreciated. Someone who adopts php 5.3.0 or uses htscanner might allow for it. I'm too lazy to check if memory limit is allowed on an htscanner/htaccess level or not On Wed, Jul 8, 2009 at 1:27 AM, Matthew Croudm...@obviousdigital.com wrote: Apologies if this type of question is frowned upon in the mailing list, however I would like to pop the question to those in the know. The servers we have in the UK right now are nearing the limits of what we'll sell on them before it'll impact the folks on those servers, but if you don't mind a US- or Canadian-based server, you can hook up through us at http://pilotpig.net/, and you'll have almost full control over your local PHP. That said, see if your current host is configured to allow you to do an .htaccess or local php.ini override on some of the settings. RE: [PHP] Host for Mod PHP5
I use DixieSys.com. They seem to have fairly reasonable rates and good speed. They have a very personable support staff that you can reach via their IRC server, ICQ or through conventional email, trouble tickets, etc. They'd big and well equipped but still have a down home manner that I really enjoy. They don't run PHP5 yet, but I posted a suggestion to set it up side by side with PHP4 for people who want to use one or the other. Disk space and bandwidth are cheap and you can add services a la carte depending on your needs. When asking for unlimited disk space and lots of bandwidth, you might be over-estimating your needs. You might also find a good balance in hosting a PHP-enabled website with less space/bandwidth and going with a file hosting service for the actual songs that are planned on being posted. Some places specialize in file serving and not actual web hosting, per se. I have seen some free hosting services that claim unlimited space and such, but you get what you pay for. -TG -Original Message- From: Burhan Khalid [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, September 17, 2004 10:40 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [PHP] Host for Mod PHP5 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I know this is going to be tough but I need a hosting company that supports PHP5, has unlimited disk space and a good amount of bandwidth with a decently fast connection for a decent price. I recommend pair (http://www.pair.net) they have excellent staff, excellent accounts, an excellent backbone and they have been profitable since their second month in business they will let you host more than one domain on your account (with a setup fee). They also host a lot of open source mirrors, etc. Another choice I recommend is fidelityhosting (http://www.fidelityhosting.com) they will allow you to host multiple domains on one account, saving the account holder money if they have more than one account. [PHP] Looking for a high usage PHP host
Hi all I'm looking for a web host with the following requirments * PHP (would prefer version 4) with GD support - the most important thing is the version of GD must be 1.6 or lower because we have to work with GIF files on the fly * High data transfer - somewhere in the range of 20gig+ per month * Telnet access I've been looking for quite some time now and haven't had much luck - if anyone could help me out it'd be much appreciated! Hello all, I just come across this rather strange error while trying to configure up 4.0.6 under redhat 6.0, it is strange because i have installed it many times before with no problems, have deleted source tree and started again too! here is the error: ltconfig: you must specify a host type if you use `--no-verify' Try `ltconfig --help' for more information. configure: error: libtool configure failed here is my configure command: ./configure \ --prefix=/usr/local/Zend \ --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs \ --with-config-file-path=/usr/local/Zend/etc \ --with-mysql=../../mysql \ --with-gd=/usr/local/gd \ --with-freetype-dir=/usr/local/freetype2 \ --with-png-dir=/usr \ --with-jpeg-dir=/usr \ --with-zlib-dir=/usr \ --with-xml \ --with-pdf \ --enable-wddx \ --enable-sockets \ --enable-track-vars \ --disable-debug don't see what the problem is whats this --no-verify didn't tell it to do that :) hope someone can help, as i'm stummped for now. also any suggestions on the configuration options would also appreciated. regards joseph -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To contact the list administrators, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[PHP] Host question
Just out of curiosity, is there anyone here that is using phpwebhosting.com to host their site? Due to ALL the problems with the DSL in my area, I am thinking about not hosting my own site anymore and phpwebhosting.com seems to be what I need, I am just looking for some input about any problems that anyone may have had before I spend my $9.95 per month -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To contact the list administrators, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
