Assuming you are using php 5.2.x you can use the PECL extension
uploadprogress.

You can use either perl uploading with ajax or flash uploader.
For the perl - google 'uber uploader'
For the flash - google 'flash uploader site:de' and get into the first it
should pop up something with fancy I think..
