I still don't know how php gets the mysql-version, but anyway. Using the old mysql
again plus the new php 4.0.4 - whenever I try to connect using phpadmin or any other
php-file that uses mysql_connect () it breaks with this msg:

I'm having problems getting both of them to work correctly. I'm upgrading from php3.x
to php4.0.4 and mysql 3.22.23beta to 3.22.30gamma.
first question: my phpinfo() shows mysql as enabled and version 3.22.23beta - although
I've removed the old one and installed the new mysql-version.
