Please contact pkg-javascript and try to coordinate your uploads with
this team. Check its wiki, read what npm2deb says about the modules
 you're packaging.

For instance, the team was avoiding node-readable-stream for some
 reason.
It would have been nicer to discuss and get some advices before blindly
 uploading.

Moreover,

please, consider to add your contributions to the DB of npm2deb (if needed):

Apparently I fucked that up. I didn't look well enough to see that it
was already packaged.

I'm sorry about that, and I will revert my upload by restoring the
previous version with an epoch unless there is no objection to the 1.0.3
version, then I will merge Jérémys packaging changes back.

How do you want to proceed Jérémy?

Please contact pkg-javascript and try to coordinate your uploads with
this team. Check its wiki, read what npm2deb says about the modules
 you're packaging.

My ITPs and RFPs for the openlayers project all go to the javascript
list too.

I'm also using the wiki to track the progress:

https://wiki.debian.org/Javascript/Nodejs/Tasks/openlayers

For such a loosely coordinated team, that seems the best I can do.

For instance, the team was avoiding node-readable-stream for some
 reason.
It would have been nicer to discuss and get some advices before blindly
 uploading.

The avoidance of readable stream was not documented, and there was an
RFP documenting the need for a package even though the package it was
originally needed for didn't require it anymore.

I'm happy that I'm finally getting some feedback even though its
triggered by a fuckup of mine, at least there is some dialog going.

Please give more advice for the packages in the openlayers dependency chain.

Interesting page, but not very informative. And also not linked from the
Nodejs page, making it not very easily discoverable.

Kind Regards,

I have no interest in npm2deb. Those relying on that wiki page please
elaborate what maintenance is needed, and let us discuss if sensible to
generally expect from us all to do that, and how (perhaps better to use
e.g. debian/upstream/* YAML data for that).

I’ve been subscribed to this list for almost two years now, and
unfortunately, it seems like there is not much positive feedback or
help one can expect from here.

Not sure how we (or more realistically you, since I’m pretty tired of
the mud-throwing style of discussion here) may improve the current
status, be more welcoming and helpful to each other, but believe there
 is room for improvement.

I appreciate this list - it is far better than not having it: I have
found it helpful for coordination of packaging efforts. I agree that
our style and amount of dialogue can be improved, and welcome efforts
towards that.

Maybe a face to face meeting would help starting back on the right
foot? The upcoming DebConf (and DebCamp) may be a good opportunity, so
please, do register [1] and propose a team sprint [2] or at least an
event [3] if you believe this can help.

I will attend the upcoming Debconf + Debcamp, and would be happy to meet
face to face then (but not all of Debcamp - I am involved quite a few
places). I will also try make a better job of responding here on the
list - reason I have often kept silent is to not bother with my arguably
odd cdbs packaging style (I assume most here use short-form dh and -
like myself - dislike embracing multiple styles).

@David: Will you initiate a sprint for us at Debcamp?
