Hello,

I've started to use again the HTML export function (from within
digikam) after a long while, and it doesn't work anymore the way it should:
1. create a stored search
2. select _another_ search or another album (in order to be able to make
the difference and see that something is wrong).
3. Menu Export -> Export to HTML... -> My Searches
4. Select the search created at step 1
5. The output contains the images from the view selected on step 2 and
not what is chosen on step 4. If you select multiples searches in step
4, you get multiple times the same wrong output!

It doesn't depend on the export theme chosen.

I would appreciate a bugfix in Wheezy because I don't know how to work
around this bug.

Thanks, Eric

in /usr/share/solid/actions/digikam-opencamera.desktop (from digikam-data) the
path to the excutable is wrong:

Exec=share/digikam/utils/digikam-camera downloadFromUdi %i

It should be

With the wron path Digikam is not started from the device menu in system tray.

Hi,

The only way to select pictures in digikam when one wants to upload them
to a web gallery is by name. It doesn't even show the picture when one
clicks it; but more importantly, it's impossible to select pictures
based on their score, their tags, and whatnot. What use has tagging if
it's not possible to use that to select pictures?

Package: digikam
Version: 4:4.1.0-1
Severity: important

  Hi,

I'm using digikam for several years to handle all my photos. Regularly,
some images are present in repository on disk, they are counted into the album
list (for example, I see '8 (221)' that tells me there is 221 images in the
album/directory named '8', and it is indeed what there is on filesystem).
However, they are not displayed in the central part of digikam.
I looked for lots of thing on Internet about this bug. I read and test
lots of things.
Eventually, I found the java program DigikamDBValidator. I know it is not
maintain anymore and it is not necessarly fully working with recent version of
digikam, but it allows me to start to look into the digikam database.

  And I found several problems.

And theses problems come back (with other images) after I first corrected
them. So the bug was present into the 4.0.0 digikam version. Upgrading to the
4.1.0 does not fix the database problems (but I do not know (yet) if 4.1.0 will
corrupt the database again)

For information, I'm using a mysql database for a long time (nearly when it
has been available in the Debian package)

First, I found several image related tables that refer to non existing
images. For example, I get several rows with the following request :
SELECT ImageComments.id FROM ImageComments LEFT OUTER JOIN Images ON
Images.id=ImageComments.imageid WHERE Images.name IS NULL
  I correct them with :
DELETE i FROM ImageComments i LEFT OUTER JOIN Images ON Images.id=i.imageid
WHERE Images.name IS NULL;

And I had this problem in ImageComments, ImageCopyright, ImageInformation,
ImageMetadata, and ImageTags tables (I not sure I cheked all required tables,
there can be more).

That said, fixing this does not fix my problem with images not displayed.
I found these image with this request :
SELECT id FROM Images WHERE Images.id NOT IN (SELECT ImageInformation.imageid
FROM ImageInformation);
This are images into the 'Images' table but not into the 'ImageInformation'
table.
I get the path to these images with the following request :
SELECT Images.id, concat(albumRoot, ":", relativePath, "/" , Images.name) FROM
Images JOIN Albums on Images.album=Albums.id WHERE Images.id NOT IN (SELECT
ImageInformation.imageid FROM ImageInformation);

And indeed, the listed images where the ones counted into the album list but
not displayed by digikam.

I fix this by creating empty lines in the ImageInformation table (but this
image ID):
insert into ImageInformation (imageid) SELECT id FROM Images WHERE Images.id
NOT IN (SELECT ImageInformation.imageid FROM ImageInformation);

Starting digikam just after this 'fix' makes all my missing images displayed!
Looking at the database, I needed to execute 'read metadata from images again'
in the album menu (I'm not sure of the exact english text: my digikam is in
french) in the album where I had missing images in order to got the
ImageInformation fully filled.
Needless to say that executing this entry menu before creating the lines in
the ImageInformation table did not have any effect. It is something I tried
lots of times.

So, I'm not sure what leads to this database corruption but it is something I
observe several times. And it happens with the 4.x series (ie, I'm sure I fixed
the database while I was already using digikam 4.x and today I needed to fix it
again).

If a developer is interested, I can provide him a copy of my broken database
(4,5 MB compressed with xz)

  Regards,
Vincent

Package: digikam
Version: 4:4.1.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Since update to 4.1.0-1 when used with an external mysql db Digikam
freezes totally on opening the setting window, irrespective of the
setting tab accessed.
CPU load is 100% on one core and never comes down (application left
opened for over 48 hours, collection is ±3 images).
Behavior is normal (albeit slow) when SQlite db is used.

Tried to recreate mysql database from scratch, purging digikam and
related packages, removing all configuration files, and
reinstalling but it leads to the same behavior.

Searching the Internet I found

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=337737

wich seems to be the same bug manifesting itself in OpenSuse, so maybe
it's upstream problem.

Workaround: manually populate database for collection (from previous
working db dump in my case), change Digikam configuration by using text
editor, and never open the setting window. Or stick with SQlite db.

I will try to get proper debug informations today.

Thank you for your time and work.

Package: digikam
Version: 4:4.4.0-1.1
Severity: important
Used with SQLite database

Dear Maintainer,

I wanted to tag already found faces. That worked for some time. Then
after tagging another face digikam began to consum all the RAM.
This situation is now reproduceable by
1. starting digikam
2. tagging just one single face

I can't even close digikam at that time. Digikam takes up the whole RAM
(I tried it with up to 12 GB) and the loadavg rises up to 75 on a dualcore chip
computer. At least that's the highest I could see.

Starting from the command line I get many times something like the
following (The numbers are changing naturally). But I get it even while
tagging something different than faces and that does work.

digikam(20782)/digikam (core): Tag 0x3521850 doesn't have a valid parent

To solve the problem I tried several things:
* Take an older database out of my backup
* Tried a new user using digikam (with the same picture files and
database)
* deleted the database, starting digikam, made a migration of an older
database). Here digikam didn't show me any pictures even after:
* Tried to update the metadata, the thumbnails, etc. from the tools
  menu.
* started digikam with gdb
That gave me tones of lines like

Digikam has configuration option ENABLE_OPENCV3, set OFF by default.
Should be a simple matter of flipping it ON.

Package: kipi-plugins
Version: 0.1.2-3
Severity: normal

When using the kipi-plugin HTML Gallery it fails when one or more jpeg images
contain non-UTF8 meta-info. The
meta-info is used in the gallery.xml file in the tags. Xsltproc
cannot parse this if this is
non-UTF8. The plugin aborts with the message "Could not load XML file
/path/gallery.xml".

Command to generate error messages in a terminal:
xsltproc --param i18nNext next --param i18nPrevious previous --param
i18nCollectionList collection
simple/template.xsl gallery.xml

Sample error:
gallery.xml:153: parser error : Input is not proper UTF-8, indicate encoding !
Bytes: 0xA8 0x20 0x34 0x2E
File written by Adobe Photoshop¨ 4.0

This is something for upstream. Either parse the meta-info or perhaps an option
to ignore the meta-info
entirely.

Hello,

With my old KDE 3.5, I've saved multiples gallery in export to gallery plugin.
It would be nice if these features come back.

The user could have a choice between their gallery website without enter
settings for each export operation.

Thanks,

Debian policy 3.8.0.0 states:

  * Debian packages should not use convience copies of code from other
packages unless the included package is explicitly intended to be
used that way.[4.13]

digikam does this with cimg (version 1.2.8).

It would be better to (upgrade Debian cimg and) link digikam to system
supplied library of cimg.

Package: digikam
Version: 2:1.0.0~rc-1
Severity: wishlist

When image is an square 2D work (like photo on wall, window, door, or paint)
and was shooted from side, to correct perspective while using perspective
correction tool, it's really hard to restore image back to rectangle. Much
easely is simple point four angles of quadrilateral on image and let digikam to
transform image in the way selected dots become rectangle.

When I download/import pictures from USB devices file permissions of the images
on disk are different for landscape and portrait orietation of the images.
This happens on JPG format but not with CR2 images.

I suppose this is an effect of JPG images being rotated according to their
orientation
and in this process being saved with new permissions.

This behavior is not very consistent and should not happen IMHO.

Thank you very much,

Hi,

When adding a "face tag" in the preview window, I have a few
issues:
- When the "Show face tags" option is selected, there are various
updates that don't happen properly. For instance when a new
name is created it shows an empty tag. When the tag is removed,
the square is still shown, ... Those are all "fixed" when
you select a different image, and then go back.
- When you select a name from the drop down box, nothing happens.
As a result you have to type the full name all the time.

Was this with Digikam version 4.4.0, as the original poster?

Thank you! I un-installed kipi-plugins and now I can reproduce the problem.

I agree that digikam should have a dependency; at least the Recommends level
-- which is what "showfoto" has -- if not a full Depends.
