It certainly doesn't work very well. How reliable do you think farstream 0.1
is?

It might successfully make a call with the same version to the same version,
but my initial tests had been ktp to jitsi and those constantly failed.

With the QtGstreamer 1.0 + farstream 0.2 at least audio works with jitsi.

Are you saying that ktp-call-ui doesn't actually work in its current
state? If you are, please file a bug with appropriate severity (probably
grave) and remove it from jessie - we shouldn't be releasing
non-functional software into stable.

Unfortunately I didn't navigate the transitions to get qt-gstreamer 1.0 and
the updated telepathy-qt needed for a working ktp-call-ui into Jessie.

The components needed are off sitting in the just released slightly too late
0.9 release of ktp.

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#731121: ktp-call-ui: depends on obsolete Farstream 0.1

2013-12-04 Thread Diane Trout
Hello,

I think currently KTP Call UI ends up depending on both GStreamer 0.10 and 1.0
because it directly uses GStreamer 0.10 but it depends on telepathy components
that have been updated to 1.0

I've been working on porting the QtGstreamer wrapper being used by KTP, but
it's has been slow going. So I'm not sure when a GStreamer 1.0 release might
happen.

I've had trouble using ktp-call-ui recently because of all the version
mismatches, I think to get it all working reliably will require finishing the
porting to GStreamer to 1.0.

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#731121: ktp-call-ui: depends on obsolete Farstream 0.1

2013-12-02 Thread Simon McVittie
Package: ktp-call-ui
Version: 0.7.0-1
Severity: wishlist

Farstream 0.1 is unmaintained upstream. It would be great if ktp-call-ui
could move to GStreamer 1.0, Farstream 0.2 and telepathy-farstream 0.6.

(Indeed, it already appears to depend on libtelepathy-farstream3, which
is the Gst 1.0 version - does it still work? If so, does that mean it's
actually using Gst 1.0 already?)

S
