Bug#739936: mpv: no 'ICY Info' metadata printed when playing from playlist stream
Control: reassign -1 libavformat54 Control: retitle -1 libavformat54: support for ICY stream metadata (like ffmpeg) Control: affects -1 mpv On dom, feb 23, 2014 at 11:03:29 -0600, Brian Paterni wrote: Package: mpv Version: 0.3.5-1 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer, I sometimes use mpv to listen to online audio streams. Something useful that I find lacking in mpv but available in mplayer2 though is the output of stream metadata. mplayer2 for example displays the artist and title of the currently playing song. This is something I would like to have displayed in mpv's output as well, but either mpv currently doesn't have this ability or I can't seem to find how to tell it to do so. The fact is, mpv relies on libav/ffmpeg for the http streaming handling while mplayer2 implements its own parser. So, mpv does support reading of ICY metadata, but it only works with a recent enough version of ffmpeg, and AFAICT it doesn't work at all with libav. So, I'm reassigning this to libav. (I don't know what's the libav policy for merging stuff from ffmpeg, but the ffmpeg commit that added support for this seems to be [0], which incidentally was done by mpv's upstream author). Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 728928: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=728928 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems ---BeginMessage--- Package: libavcodec53 Version: 6:0.8.6-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, *** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? Using mplayer or vlc from Debian Wheezy package * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I played flv file downloaded from youtube with mplayer or vlc on a computer with K6-3+ processor. * What was the outcome of this action? both mplayer and vlc crash with illegal instruction signal. The instruction that causes the crash is = 0xb34563b0: pminsw %mm5,%mm6 The instruction is contained in the file /usr/lib/i386-linux- gnu/i686/cmov/libavcodec.so.53.35.0 * What outcome did you expect instead? The file should be playable. There are two versions of libavcodec.so.53.35.0 shipped in Debian - one in the directory /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/ (that is for i686 processors) and the other in /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/ (that is for i586 and lower processors). The version for i586 is miscompiled - it contains the instruction pminsw. Note that the instruction pminsw is only present in i686-class processors - its support starts with Pentium 3 (with SSE instruction set) and Athlon (with MMXEXT instruction set) processors. This instruction shouldn't be used for i586-class processors because no i586-class processor supports it. When I compile mplayer and ffmpeg from upstream on my own, it plays the file correctly. Debian incorrectly compiled the package. -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.2 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i586) Kernel: Linux 3.11.7 (PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=cs_CZ.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=cs_CZ.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libavcodec53 depends on: ii libavutil516:0.8.6-1 ii libc6 2.13-38 ii libdirac-encoder0 1.0.2-6 ii libgsm11.0.13-4 ii libmp3lame03.99.5+repack1-3 ii libopenjpeg2 1.3+dfsg-4.6 ii libschroedinger-1.0-0 1.0.11-2 ii libspeex1 1.2~rc1-7 ii libtheora0 1.1.1+dfsg.1-3.1 ii libva1 1.0.15-4 ii libvorbis0a1.3.2-1.3 ii libvorbisenc2 1.3.2-1.3 ii libvpx11.1.0-1 ii libx264-1232:0.123.2189+git35cf912-1 ii libxvidcore4 2:1.3.2-9 ii multiarch-support 2.13-38 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.7.dfsg-13 libavcodec53 recommends no packages. libavcodec53 suggests no packages. -- no debconf information ---End Message--- ---BeginMessage--- Source: libav Source-Version: 6:9.11-2 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of libav, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive. Manually creating a symlink to freetyp2 under /usr/include resulting in a symlink to freetyp2 called freetype resolves the issues, but one would expect every single hard coded 3rd party app using freetype needs a heads up or something within package building from Debian to work around it. It seems odd that for such an late to the party update to freetype in Debian that third party trunks like libav haven't updated yet. FYI: I'm building from git trunk off of libav to verify this annoyance. Sincerely, Marc J. Driftmeyer P.S. Not building a workaround on such a vital part of the OS [It's type handling system] seems truly short-sighted. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.11-2-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages libav-tools depends on: ii dpkg 1.17.1 ii libavcodec54 6:9.10-1 ii libavdevice53 6:9.10-1 ii libavfilter3 6:9.10-1 ii libavformat54 6:9.10-1 ii libavresample1 6:9.10-1 ii libavutil526:9.10-1 ii libbz2-1.0 1.0.6-5 ii libc6 2.17-97 ii libgnutls262.12.23-8 ii libgsm11.0.13-4 ii libmp3lame01:3.99.5-dmo2 ii libopenjpeg2 1.3+dfsg-4.6 ii libopus0 1.1~rc+20131128-1 ii librtmp0 2.4+20121230.gitdf6c518-1 ii libschroedinger-1.0-0 1.0.11-2 ii libsdl1.2debian1.2.15-8 ii libspeex1 1.2~rc1.1-1 ii libswscale26:9.10-1 ii libtheora0 1.1.1+dfsg.1-3.1 ii libva1 1.2.1-2 ii libvorbis0a1.3.2-1.3 ii libvorbisenc2 1.3.2-1.3 ii libvpx11.2.0-2 ii libx264-1332:0.133.2339+git585324f-2 ii libxvidcore4 3:1.3.2-dmo1 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.8.dfsg-1 libav-tools recommends no packages. As such it uses -march=native and depending on detection code sets several other flags. This is not appropriate for debian. Packages built on debian should run on the minimum hardware chosen by the port maintainers regardless of the hardware in the machine used to build them. In general the porters descisions will be reflected in the defaults that are hardcoded into the compiler, Therefore compiler flags that affect the CPU requirements should generally only be used to build secondary versions of code for use in conjunction with runtime CPU detection. -march=native should never be used as it leads to build results that depend on what hardware happens to be in the build system. It appears that this impacts all versions from 8.0-1 to 10.0-1 The attatched debdiff should fix this. I also included a fix for incomplete cleanup in the clean target which I noticed while working on the fix. Bug#738981: Fwd: Bug#738981: Switch to use generic_fpu for ARM

It was a pain to even get it to compile. Using just the configure option, the assembler complained about the NEON instructions being invalid for the chosen cpu type. Adding -mfpu=neon to the CFLAGS made it able to compile, but it still crashes with illegal instruction. I tried with CFLAGS set to -mcpu=cortex-a15 -mfpu=neon, and that still gives illegal instruction when running it. This is weird. What happened in debian side since https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=667653#35 ? We have the current code working on this setup: device: iPod touch 4G with iOS 5.1.1 toolchain: gcc 4.2.1(from Xcode 3.2.6) on OSX 10.6.8, clang 3.3(from Xcode 5.0.2) on OSX 10.9.1 (double checked) configure script option: --host=armv7-apple-darwin --with-cpu=arm_nofpu[neon] --with-audio=dummy --disable-shared --enable-static [--enable-int-quality] Taihei also just checked the compliance of the decoder choices including NEON. That illegal instruction ... care to fire up the debugger to tell us where it actually occurs? The NEON assembly is written as plain assembler input (cpp + as), you can see the instructions we use right there and it doesn't differ from iOS. It might be a good idea to have the benchmark script actuall check the return code of system() Yes. easytag 2.1.10
Hi, I'm not in the multimedia team, but I've packaged easytag 2.1.10 after I kept getting crashes with the current version in Debian. I put the packaging on github if you want to look at it. https://github.com/jcowgill/debian-easytag Thanks, James ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers

Bug#738811: handbrake: crashes after source DVD is selected
Are you using dvdnav or libdvdread (check in File/Preferences/Advanced)? libdvdread used to be problematic in the past and once it was causing similar crash, see #688574. Unfortunately it looks like it hasn't been properly fixed which makes me wonder if it hit us again... -- Best wishes, Dmitry Smirnov GPG key : 4096R/53968D1B ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers
