Actually less visual widgets will most likely speed up the UI part if the
slowness is coming from it and not from the plugin logic.

different UI layout might of course make a better first impression, but I

Thanks Gayan,

I've evolved my local workbench to look a bit more like the one you
suggested, hiding toolbars, making it fullscreen by default... So far so
good.
Maybe it's the kind of refreshment we need for the IDE to look much leaner
without really changing anything: shipping a different default layout,
without toolbar, moving the run and perspective someplace else...? We could
even make it default in the SDK as long as it's not breaking any form of
functionality/extensibility (sure it's disruptive, but not worse and also
not too hard for users to restore to previous state).

2022-05-29 Thread Mickael Istria
Hi Gayan,

Thanks for sharing, that looks really good!
How is it working in term of usability? Is it all driven by Ctrl+3? Is
there any particular existing workflow that becomes more difficult with
this "lightened" skin? I personally use the Run/Debug toolbar items a lot
and am wondering if there is any alternative that could fit my need and
could allow me to remove the toolbar.
In any case, if this seems functional and nothing is really missing, even
if some workflows are slightly more difficult, I'm personally fine having
such a theme directly built-in the IDE.

Cheers,
