Re: [platform-dev] Customizing Github Organization Pages

2022-03-31 Thread Mickael Istria
I've added a bit more content to the
https://github.com/eclipse-platform/.github/blob/main/profile/README.md so
it's now visible on profile page: https://github.com/eclipse-platform .
It's totally open for improvements.
I've also opened
https://gitlab.eclipse.org/eclipsefdn/helpdesk/-/issues/1102 to customize
the metadata fields a bit more.

I think https://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/ is more informative for the
broader audience.

I would guess this one is already handled by foundation and we should not
interfere.

Maybe setting the Twitter username to @EclipseJavaIDE

?

You can also ask Webmaster for temporary admin privileges so that you can
iterate faster.

Sorry, I missed the line between the 2 images, where you already explicitly
answer my question before I even asked this. "we must open a helpdesk issue
to update that information."; so OK, it's helpdesk only, too bad but we'll
use it anyway.

Before we open a ticket, we need to agree of how we want ot set those
fields, here is a suggestion
* Organization display name: Eclipse Platform
* Email: platform-dev@eclipse.org
* description: "Eclipse Platform is a framework for rich client
applications in Java, powering the Eclipse IDE and other toolsets"
* URL: https://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/ or

I assume it's same as
https://gitlab.eclipse.org/eclipsefdn/helpdesk/-/issues/1098 so these
adjustments have to be mave via helpdesk issues.

2022-03-31 Thread Ed Merks

Mickael,

Perhaps a picture would help me understand what you're referring to, if
it's not already one of the things for which I had a screen capture.

My assumption is that if it requires an admin page with admin access for
the organization then only the foundation staff can admin it and they
will do so via a helpdesk request.

If you don't know, I can open an helpdesk ticket to ask; I'm pretty

Hi Ed,

While contributing a .github/README.md file seems like regular Git/GitHub
stuff that any committer can tackle, I do not see the links to configure
the organization (eg set links, names and so on). Are those supposed to be
accessible to committers? to project leads? Or do we need to open an

If you don't know, I can open an helpdesk ticket to ask; I'm pretty sure
