Re: [PLUG] Free Geek volunteers

2017-09-20 Thread Garrett Bigart
Well, it's a great place and everyone's nice. You can learn a lot while
volunteering whether it's tearing down computers
,
building them
 or volunteering
. I was doing the laptop build for a while and that was fun
. I can't tell you how much I hate HP laptops after working on them.
I also took some photos for them. It's
a plus that they have give you a computer after you volunteer for 24
hours, and if you already have a computer, they make for decent home
servers. Volunteering also gives you a discount in the store.

They also have classes if you haven't seen that
, but make sure you call them to sign up for a class
.
There are classes on the command line and basic Linux use, specifically
on Linux Mint because that goes on every computer they sell or donate.
There are also HTML, CSS, Python and maker classes.

Huh, I've been having the same problem but turning off middle click
pasting. I have to save it to make it start working again which usually
involves adding a space to the end and saving it.

You might need to install a file system to read the drive. Type the

sudo apt-get install exfat-fuse exfat-utils

Ok, cool. Make sure to skip the key activation during instillation. It
probably wont activate then. Install all updates then activate it.

Before you install Ubuntu could you check in the settings to see whether it
says activated or not? I might need to do something depending on what that
says.

Re: [PLUG] Migrating Win 10 on new machine to VirtualBox

2017-08-10 Thread Garrett Bigart
Hey Denis,

Windows 10 license keys become tied to hardware as soon as it's activated,
so if it hasn't been activated, you should be fine with a Windows 10 ISO,
your COA and VirtualBox. Now, I was under the impression that all prebuilt
PCs came activated, so are you absolutely certain that it isn't activated
and where are you getting that information? That may determine how you
should go about doing this.

Best,
Garrett
