I have to test a piece of software by simulating from different geo regions.
Does anyone have good VPN software recommendations on Chromebook?
(with a good set of geo servers I can switch around)

I bought a used Dell laptop on Dell.Com. They have a section on their
website that sell recent models that were returned.
I wiped the Windows installation and got Ubuntu running just fine. Price
and support was good too

Dear all:
I have a Chromebook question.
a) I read that most Chromebooks can run Android apps.
b) I also read that most Chromebooks can run Linux apps
If both a + b are true, does it mean most Chromebooks can run both Android
and Linux apps simultaneously?
Want to check if anyone has such

Hi All
I am testing my Dell laptop with a Linux Mint bootable USB drive.
Things are all working except HDMI.
I tried connecting 2 different monitors (using 2 different HDMI cables) but
it just won't detect the external monitor.
The Window 11 OS is able to see the external monitor so it is not

Hello all, need some advice on installing Nvidia driver.
I just got a Dell laptop and plan to use Linux Mint on it.
I saw under "Software Manager" of latest Linux Mint, it has an Nvidia driver
of version x.x.047. Nvidia website has version x.x.51.
I downloaded the latest from Nvidia.

Can you share steps how you get into the BIOS to boot from a linux live USB?
I have one coming soon.
I am a bit concern that these newer laptops may have something incompatible
so I also want to try with a live USB first.

thanks

If you have not purchased anything yet, this may be another option for you

Hello all:
Hopefully "Android" question is allowed for this list.
I apologize if this is off-topic.
I have an ARM based set-top box that was running an older version of
Android when I purchased it from an OEM. I like to "flash" it with a
slightly newer Android version.
It is in otherwise very

It works well on Linux. Hope this helps!

Sorry for the late reply, still catching up emails.
This is not ffmpeg but may give you another option.
A few years ago, I need to video my desktop while some software is running
(to capture run-time steps).
I found that VLC could do that.
VLC can as a server and save desktop to a video:

Dear All
I got an issue with my mouse. It seems to be too sensitive.
I am using Linux Mint 19, Xfce window manager.
I have used Xfce before and never had issue.
I would be typing and mouse pointer could move slightly on its own
(not too sure why). And then it would focus on a different part

Hello All
I have trouble reading DVDs on my laptop using Linux Mint.
I typically borrowed DVDs from library and never had issues with playing
them on my laptop. I don't need to buy a DVD or BluRay player by doing
that.
Today, I got a DVD and I can read its content/files. But VLC or all

I tried exFat this afternoon and so far it works well.
I also need to use the same drive on a Rasp. Pi which I haven't tested it

I have a USB external drive that I will need to have it work with Linux and

I am trying to decide what format I should use to format it.
msdos is the easy option, both OS can support it just fine.
However, I may have files with size that could be larger than 4GB.

Dear All
I need some help with reading the output of /proc/cpuinfo.
We have several machines and they are all supposedly identical Intel Xeon
machines. 4 CPUs each and identical Linux version.
One of the machines are reporting VERY high load consistently.
They are all running identical
