It is also possible to disable Windows DNS caching so that it always
requests from the DNS server. I do this, Windows caching is off so it
always requests, and that request goes to dnsmasq on my Pi which is a
much better DNS cache which behaves correctly (unlike Windows DNS
caching).

I bought a Raspberry Pi, found an article online that explains how to
run it as a DNS cache using dnsmasq, and I did exactly what it said. I
can't advise on other systems. The only thing I had to work out myself
was how to change my router's DHCP response to give the IP

.@Logitech I just got a letter from @SIRIUSXM that my radio won't work
after 9/30 - is this true? ( I have a UE x-r0001)

Owen, I run LMS on a dedicated xubuntu box. It doesn't run all the
time, so wouldn't be suitable as a permanent local network nameserver
for my whole network. Can I none the less make use of the caching
facility for DNS from LMS? I'm struggling through a load of man pages
I haven't received the letter, either. Hopefully this isn't the end --
SiriusXM is used heavily on our Squeezeboxes.

Thanks. I'm still reluctant to host more boxes, and I don't need DHCP.
However, I have, just this minute, managed to re-install dnsmasq on my
music server, add server=8.8.8.8 (etc) statements to /etc/dnsmasq.conf
and check /etc/resolv/conf points to 127.0.0.1 (ie loopback).

Yes I received the letter yesterday.
I suspect that's the end. WHo is going to update the sirius plugin? If
anyone knows more about this please post here.
I was surprised that they even bothered to send a letter

I haven't tried PlayHLS and know very little about it - is that worth a

isn't a problem, as in both can coexist happily?
Ill try proxy streaming, but it says LMS defaults to this when SB3s are
sync'd,
Hi,
I've been using Spicefly/MusicIP for years but I'm just trying to get
LMS stable on a Raspberry Pi so I'm looking at Smart Mix - can I ask, is
there still a 100K limit on the library size with Smart Mix?
Mark
Many thanks for the reply Michael - ok, so that sounds promising - I
have 111K but that's taken many years (decades actually!) so although
it's growing, it's growing slowly...
I'll look up virtual libraries!
Thanks again,
Mark

Yes.
Please read up in this thread how you might be able to reduce the number
of tracks
When SB Player was launched it was against Kitkat (?) and only supported
16bit sound but would downsample 24bit OK. Just a question has that now
changed ? I am particularly interested in the state of play in the case
of SB Player on Amazon Fire TV or Fire Stick.
