seconds of the program after it went silent.

As far as I can see there is no visibility of any metadata in the output
of this device. Is metadata required by the CCA or could it be all
turned of by including a "Turn Off All Metadata" selection for Audio
Devices?

Which QNAP model? It may not be powerful enough to do the necessary
transcoding. Neither of mine are.
I have all my local FLACS on a QNAP but LMS is on a different machine
that reads the QNAP. The extra power of the LMS server makes scanning
and transcoding no issue whatsoever.

Well, learned something here. I wasn't aware of the fact that it is
possible to block ports in the firewall settings. Last time I spent some
time in the firewall settings was in DSM
