Maybe your Mac doesn’t accept WOL packets over port 3483. In theory it shouldn’t matter but Macs have always been temperamental with WOL. Have you tried the port that other app uses? I think the most common port for WOL is 6 or 9 (always mix that up), iPeng uses 3483 because that theoretically

I use a pi3 for LMS duties, and pi2s for players, I like to separate the tasks N.B. Use a relatively large high speed sd card for the LMS server pi, as that's where it builds its cache, alternatively you can direct that to a USB drive Excellent advise. I'm using a 16GB of the fastest kind

I still use Squeeze Commander, mainly because it supports setting of ratings using Erland's Trackstat plugin. Do any of the newer apps support this? When I tried Orange Squeeze it didn't (or I couldn't work out how!) at the time.

Pi2 running Max2Play as LMS server and player. As it turns out, someone was ironing in the house and trying to play local stored music had the same effect, so it could be that the element turning on caused my dac to drop the connection from the Pi for a moment.
