plugin's coversearch feature.
When the plugin is not given cover art by the broadcaster then it goes
off to try and find it elsewhere.

That is indeed a quirk of how things are joined together.
The plugin is not directly involved in the streaming of the content.
All it knows (today) is that the playing is playing or not.
When it is playing then the plugin collected the information about what
is playing from the remote source

Thanks Paul. I have emailed BluesFLAC to alert them to the issue. I
updated to the .18a version after posting and also updated to the latest
8.3 beta. So far there are no error messages relating to the Radio Now
Playing plugin but i will keep watching. I will post the Planet Radio

For RadioBluesFlac, and same for any audio issues, best to check the
broadcaster's web site and see if the same issue can be repeated there -
because the plugin is not directly involved in playing the stream ...

I've just made a new beta 0.0.17a that adds Offshore Music Radio
I had it working by simply making a new config file to parse in stream
data from their Shoutcast server and using the new CoverSearch stuff to
fetch cover art from elsewhere.
It worked - although the cover art was, naturally
Europa Radio Jazz appear to have changed something at their end over
night and have messed up the track titles a bit.
They usually prefix the title with some sort of identifier - like
N123A456B.
I strip that off when working out the title.
However, this changed to have a lower case "n" at the

This is the scratch of the itch that I referred to earlier.
It adds Dandelion Radio ... which is not really needed since it already
provides artist, title and cover art ... however, the station puts the
name of the show at the front of the artist name.
So
So - I'll make a new beta of the plugin with this code in it ... and
finally my request from 2014 will be partly resolved!
I like it when open source allows you to fix the issue nobody wants to
solve for your yourself ;-). Well done!

Ah, now the same return with 5.30, it looks like.
I think it was because I ran it with ./ originally and not :"perl" or
"perl[version]".

If the testmatch.pl is not in the directory that your shell session is

so instead of letting the operating system decide which one to run you
can tell it the one you want by explicitly using it in the command line.

Make a plain text file called testmatch.pl consisting of Paul's code.
Go into Terminal and...
... make it exectuable with chmod +x
... run it with ./
... get output to show.
I didn't tell it "perl" of any kind.
Replace perl in the instructions with perl5.18

I have two different sources of data and the http request to fetch
things is asynchronous and complete at different times.
Not all tracks have album covers.

I guess you know this, but the "next" track info arrives ahead of its
audio, and the artwork arrives a little after that.
