What do you mean - the check box was ticked or unticked ? - The checkbox
was unticked.
Was the PlayHLS shown as Active but enabled box not ticked ? - I don't
remember exactly. At the very top of the plugin page there was a line
asking to install (I think) PlayHLS and the checkbox was unticked. Th

Was LMS 7.9 started with "--norestart" command line option ?
How did you restart LMS - via a dialogue box or thro /etc/init.d ?

There is no code in the Plugin, it just sets up conf files. so it is not
sensitive to LMS version.

I listen to live BBC radio streams using another link so I guess the
best ting to do is to wait until the mess has been resolved.

I think this is your problem. I could not get the Play HLS plugin to
install correctly on the latest 7.9 nightly. It works fine on 7.8,
although I don't like that version as much as 7.9.
