Great! I'll give it a go.

Some questions though:

Does it still provide support for playing as a Dynamic Playlist?
Is it possible to totally disable Now and Next (as Dynamic Playlist will add
the next song in advance to the playlist, I can see it there).
Is there a way to set a filter to be used all the time, or is it necessary to
configure this for every hour of the day?

2010-01-14 Thread raven22

I love this plugin, but unfortunately MIP can not be installed on my
Sheevaplug.

So I was thinking, is it possible for this plugin to decode the MIP
analysis of the track which has been written to the tag? If that is the
case, I can run MIP on my windows desktop and write the analysis the the
tags and let Sugarcube on my Sheeva do the mixing.

I realize that this is probably too easy thought of and too good to be
truth.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Non-UK problem with BBC R4 via BBCiPlayer plugin

2010-01-14 Thread bpa

Interesting - that log is different to the previous log and the last few
lines indicate that BBC is sending Audio back to your SBS. So the
problem is either intermittent network quality/connection or SBS.

Any idea what was changed between reboots - any updates applied to any
part of the system ?

Can you do a log with plugin.bbciplayer.rtmp set to INFO and
player.source set to INFO. Hopefully this should show up any SBS
problems.

what does flushing the cache do and when exactly do you use it? Does it
cause any possibe adverse functionality with ipeng? Using ipeng lately
has been irregular and many times I would have to exit ipeng and
re-connect to get the proper indications of the players status . So I
flushed the cache hoping this would help. Thanks. Oh yes, I am very
thankful for this ipeng application! Without it my Squeeze system would
not be nearly as great. Thank you.

Does it still provide support for playing as a Dynamic Playlist?
Probably... but I dont guarantee it, nobody has reported it doesnt work
but then I dont know how many people use this functionality.

Is it possible to totally disable Now and Next (as Dynamic Playlist will
add the next song in advance to the playlist, I can see it there).
Yes it can be disabled per player

Is there a way to set a filter to be used all the time, or is it
necessary to configure this for every hour of the day?

Yes, the filters have been restructure for 3x timezones day, evening
and night

I think one of the results of the changes at weather.com (and the fact
that SDT has always been very good about caching information) is that if
you kept your server running, SDT would be stuck with the last
forecast before weather.com changed its markup language. As soon as you
restart SC/SBS, SDT would start with a blank slate and be unable to get
 real data.
This is exactly what I noticed the other day. Actually, my 3-year old
daughter noticed it. Sometimes she likes to watch the forecast scroll by
and the other morning, she went to watch it and said Daddy, it's not
scrolling! and low and behold, it was not. It was stuck on some weather
info. I did a services restart and then got the garbled text display
after that. I guess we'll wait for SDT to adjust to the changes.

Glad I'm not alone. ;)

Using ipeng lately has been irregular and many times I would have to
exit ipeng and re-connect to get the proper indications of the players
 status.
This has nothing to do with the cache. It sounds more like you are
having trouble with the connection to the server breaking down. I know
of a few scenarios where this can happen:

1. First and most common: There seems to be an issue with certain
routers ans WiFi connections to iPhone. I have a number of users
reporting similar things where these did go away when they changed the
router. This seems to be more common on iPhone and I suspect is has to
do with the iPhone trying to use the 3G network instead of WiFi.
2. You simply have an unstable connection to the router. I have trouble
like that with one of my devices although Safari seems to be more
affected. It's easy to identify since iPhone/iPod doesn't show a Wifi
enabled icon in the status bar.
3. iPeng's NowPlaying screen seems to sometimes lose the connection to
the underlying player object when you switch between different music
sources and the player is visible in both configurations (this can
happen if all servers are on the same network where players on other
servers are shown, too). I'm investigating this one.
4. iPod/iPhone can sometimes be slow to reconnect to the WiFi network
after a wakeup from sleep mode.

In the cases of 1. and 4. it can help to use the keep connection
option in the iPeng settings. This will keep iPeng running in the
background and iPeng will keep the connection. On iPod touch 3G (and
only on that one) I still see occasional WiFi shutdowns even though the
App itself is still running, which should not be the case.

Hope this helps a bit.

My guess is they've changed something when displaying some other

If you're having issues please keep in mind that until I have a parsing

Also, please don't be so quick to loose faith in the plugin or the

SDT stopped working for me two days ago.

Running squeezeboxserver 7.4.1

Keep up the great work!

As expected weather.com phased a new web page layout.

I'm in the process of correcting the parsing. It's a tedious
process... I'll try to have an updated version posted as soon as
possible, but this plugin is more of a hobby to me and my normal job and
responsibilities come first. I hope you understand.

For those anxious to get some data appearing, I've attached my current
plugin.pm file. It contains *some* updated parsing. No support is
provided, you need to be more of an 'expert' user to know what to do
with it...

Thanks

No matter what city or citycode I enter, the plugin continues to receive

When I try accessing Last.fm radio from my SB, it seems to acquire a
playlist properly (whether it be something like my loved tracks, or a

Is Last.fm + SqueezeBox still dead outside US/UK/DE?

I have a very similar problem (as posted in another thread). I have a
compatibility issue between the cache file created by genpuid and the
MusicIP Mixer application (which comes with the MusicIP headless server
- same version).

The only reason this is a problem for me is that I want to create some
filters, and you have to use the application to do that. But the MIP
application is much slower than genpuid at creating the cache file.

Any thoughts on this much appreciated.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] custom browse plugin

2010-01-14 Thread phantom_lord

Hi, I only realised there was 3rd party plugins yesterday and haven't
any experience of messing around with them, so sorry if this is a silly
question.

I have a squeeze box duet, the only problem with it really is that I've
a large music collection and it's a big hassle to scroll through it
looking for things.

I much rather it went letter - artist - album - song

so with that in mind, i added the custom browse plugin

i tried to add this custom menu

Artists by letter Menu that browses artists but it has an extra
level where you have to select the first letter of the artist before you
can browse artists for the selected letter

but i keep getting this error:

 No custom dir configured

but i can't find any option to configure a custom directory?

Is it possible to totally disable Now and Next (as Dynamic Playlist will
add the next song in advance to the playlist, I can see it there).
Yes it can be disabled per player

Is there a way to set a filter to be used all the time, or is it
necessary to configure this for every hour of the day?

Yes, the filters have been restructure for 3x timezones day, evening
and night

Change in settings look good. Look forward to getting it working.

I was all ready to provide the logs but... Radio 4 works again.
Perfectly, like it usually does. I imagine there's no point posting the
logs so I'll thank you for your help and wish you a good evening.

(I don't think I was getting any error before loading the latest SugarCube,
but I'll check this by reverting back to previous version)

Reverting to SugarCube 1.8.4 fixed the errors, so I guess it's not compatible

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Non-UK problem with BBC R4 via BBCiPlayer plugin

2010-01-14 Thread bpa

No point providing a log of a working system.

I think the problem was network or BBC server related. With the BBC
RealAudio service - server banks handle regions so when problems
happened only some users were affected. Also when problems happen (e.g.
maintenance on server on Sun night) Radio 4 users were where the
problems seemed to show up first.

I tried using SDT, but I just can't understand how to use it. I tried
 once or twice.
Furthermore, I won't understand how it can be without any
documentation, when its configuration is so cryptic. Hence I decided not
 to use SDT.

WeatherTime is perfectly easy to use and configure, I will stick with
it for the time being. I wish it can be augmented to support the Boom. I
guess I'll try looking into the code, one of these days.
You've probably already seen them, but in case you haven't there is at
least one thread in either this forum or the Boom forum with various
recipes for using SDT on a Boom. You can simply follow the guide
without having to understand all the options, although after you've
followed the guide you will understand the options better. If one of
those recipes isn't exactly what you want then you may still be able to
modify to your taste by just substituting some of the variables.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spicefly SugarCube (Automatic MusicIP DJ)

2010-01-14 Thread cparker

Ignoring that this is off topic for SugarCube :)

What version of genpuid and MusicIP are you using? It could be you are
using a newer version of genpuid compared to your MusicIP version. So
they are writing different stuff into the m3lib.

MusicIP 1.9b6 was the last (for now?) version, go into the preferences
and set it to write the fingerprints into the files (archive analysis)
and bite the bullet of allowing it to run until completion, leave it
running and go on holiday :) Then your files are done and the
fingerprints will be inside your music files and wont need to be
re-fingerprinted again even if you delete your m3lib file in the future.

Dynamic Playlist is working fine on its own, and with SugarCube 1.8.4.

I could take a look at Dynamic Playlist and SugarCube 2.03 code in combination
to see where the issue lies, but don't know where to start. Any pointers?
