There are several things you can do.
For one, having multiple ARTISTSORT tags doesn't necessarily always
cause problems. If the tags are written by your tagging software in
the correct order (and are maintained in this order if you change
something later) then it will work OK. For example:

I know that the ARTISTSORT tag will cause problems if there are multiple
values, but has anyone found a workaround using a third-party plug-in? I
want to be able to use it with both mp3 and FLAC files.
I am thinking of something like a custom tag, such as ARTIST-SORT, that
can have two fields. Th

You don't need that - just select the "Show all 3rd party plugin

I'm not sure if this would help any of the projects people are working
on, but Arstechnica has an article about a million song dataset - not
the songs, but the data, that's completely free for the taking. In
total, it's currently 300Gb worth - but you can take only the portion
you want.

All 3 work but user may have different preferences. All players can be
controlled by Web UI, Moose, iPeng, Duet etc. as well as their own UI.
Softsqueeze is Java based and has a UI which is an emulation of "older"
player such as SB3, Transporter - so only monochrome text/dot display.

Don't know. Give it a try. It only takes a few minutes to set up.

Your original post said "Squeezeplay and Moose is a perfect combo". Was
that a typo - should "squeezeplay" be "squeezesoft"?
So I install Moose on the laptop which runs SBS 7.5.3 and then I
install squeezeslave on the desktop which doesn't have SBS running, but
on which I want to sync with the SB

Moose is a Windows GUI, not a player. You need Squeezeslave for that.

Squeezeplay and Moose is a perfect combo. I use it everyday at work. Not
sure if it works on 64bit.
Set Squeezeslave Path in Preferences > Misc and server address in
Preferences > Server.
Create a shortcut to Moose and add \squeezeslave after moose.exe.
C:\Program Files\Moose\Moose.exe \squeeze
Thank you - and is there an easy way to install it on a PC without
installing all the squeezebox server software?
