I think this bug might explain the problems with live stream format -

This underlines my lack of udnerstanding here - I see 128 combinations

aubuti: thanks! About your suggestion: if I added such option (no Genres
page) it would need to live in the upper most level or else I would have
to click through an extra screen to get to the desired view (which
pretty much defies the purpose of the plugin). However, if I added more
options to the My Music menu I am afraid users will feel the plugin is
cluttering up the server's interface. Maybe I could make the number of
extra options in the My Music menu configurable... have to think
about that. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

JJZolx: aubuti is right on all accounts.

As for the album art in the Genres page, this is pretty much random. It
is implemented in a way that leaves the selection at the discretion of
the SQLite database. I thought about making it configurable but that
would take more work for me as a developer and you as a user. Also
there is a technical issue of keeping track of any specific cover after
a rescan of your music folder.

regards,
Tom

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] irBlaster plugin help

2011-10-26 Thread TechHome

I've used IR Blaster for many years. In my opinion, you will get a much
better user experience by using the Squeezebox for the volume control.
Set the volume control on your amp so that it's as loud as you'll ever
want in when 100% on the SB, leave it at that setting and enjoy. BTW,
I have also tried setting the SB volume to fixed and using IRBlaster to
control amp volume. It worked, as designed, but for me, it was simply
not a good user experience. Volume control was inconsistent and there
was no indication of volume setting on any UIs.

Also, I'm running IRBlaster on 7.6.1 released and it works just fine.

What I was thinking of was leaving Just Covers as a single item on
the My Music menu, as it is presently, and adding an option on the JC
plugin settings page that allowed the user to specify whether they
wanted Just Covers to do Genres Albums (current behavior) or simply
go directly to Albums. I have no idea how difficult it would be to add
that additional flexibility, but I'd like it.

previous versions with the only real cause I can identify (but which is
hard to fix) being issues with frequently connecting and disconnecting
players on the server side or with certain types of connection losses
(to the server) which get the server into a mode where it bombs iPeng
with data but I believe that latter one should have become better with
 the recent updates.

Generally, I'm happy about anything reproducible :) There's also an
update for iPeng for iPad waiting in the App Store which has a few
fixes but I don't think there's anything in there that should be
 related to Rhapsody.

It happened when I tried to access My Library within Rhapsody. But then
again, I almost exclusively go to My Library when using Rhapsody, so I
wouldn't know if iPeng would crash in other sections of Rhapsody.

I use MySB.com.

BTW, I flushed the cache from the settings menu (of iPeng) and iPeng
hasn't crashed since even in Rhapsody. Does the size of the cache have
anything to do with crashes in general?

In any event, I'll report back on whether the cache removal did really
help or not.

Should not, but I recently changed the cache logic to speed things up a

to clear it.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat finer grained ratings

2011-10-26 Thread mps

I am finding that I would like to give additional (non-automatic)
ratings other than 1,2,3,4,5. iPeng is my preferred interface, but I
don't need to use it.

Firstly, is there a way to assign a track a rating of zero?

Secondly, since ratings are actually stored as a number between 0 and
100, is there a way for me to assign an exact rating in the UI?

Thanks,

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat finer grained ratings

2011-10-26 Thread erland

In TrackStat settings page, it's possible to switch to 0-10 scale, but I
don't think this will affect the rating control in iPeng, iPeng will
still show it as 0-5 scale. In both cases it's stored as 0-100 in
database, so this 0-10 setting is just a visualization thing.

If you launch the context menu of a track, you can select
Rating-Unrated which will set it to not rated, I don't remember if
iPeng has any way to to do it from its rating control.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2011-10-26 Thread Triode

I've just added a new beta release to my test repo and would like to get
some feedback on it from experienced users. Please try and post to this
thread.

The new version should include exactly the same menus as before, but
has several internal changes to help improve chances of playing a
stream. The aim is that it will find all formats of a specific stream
and try each in turn until it finds one which plays.

To support this, the settings page is hopefully simplified and I would
like feedback on this. There is now a separate setting for live and on
demand format preferences - this is the order in which stream formats
are tried. There is also an option to disable transcoding of streams,
this is intended for low performance servers supporting multiple
players where one player may support AAC (Touch/Radio) and others may
not (all older players).

The new beta is available by adding the following into the additional
repositories box at the bottom of the plugin page:

Code:
