Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] announce: ShairTunes2W - Airtunes on LMS (forked version with Windows support)
Mnyb wrote: > Ok then i have look at the firewall on the server ? Do you know what > ports should be open ? The mechanism of the plugin is a bit complicated to explain, but to make it simple, the plugin uses mDNS to broadcast presence of virtual AirPlay devices. Nothing then happens until an AirPlay controller that has detected such devices starts audio playback. The plugin then opens 3 ports, launches a binary helper that open a webserver and finally informs the real SB player that audio can be found on that webserver. Issues can happen at playback time if any of these ports are blocked, but before any of them are tentatively opened, an AirPlay controller should see the virtual AirPlay devices. So if you do not even see players, this is not (yet) a firewall problem. When you say you do not see the players, what controller are you using to try to play? AirTunes, iPhone, other? [SlimDevices: Plugins] Getting Squeezeplay working on Win 7
Hi, Wonder if anyone can help me here. I have a LMS running on Debian, v. 7.7.6 with two duets and a boom. The thing has been stable now for several years, bar the odd reset. I run the whole thing over my wifi LAN, just a generic Linksys wifi modem. All good. But I have never had luck with Squeezeplay. if I ever could get it to work it was never stable. Today I tried again because my kids would like to access the library, and this would be a cool way without buying more hardware. I installed the latest (7.8.0 r719) - it sees the library but will not connect. I tried running as admin, turning off windows firewall (laptop runs Win 7 Home). No good. Looked in the log files on the linux box, set log levels to debug for jive stuff, don't even see a line when the player tries to connect. I also run Malwarebytes, but that is not complaining at all (and it shouldn't). Also squeezeplay does not show in the list of players via the web GUI. IT sees the Boom, but neither of the two Duets. Baffled. This should "just work", right? what to try? it WOULD be nice to get this going. thanks in advance D danmcb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36694 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106510 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Super! I just gave Django's advice a try and it already made a difference. I will also try the things you described in particular switching to 100x100_o and play with the performance/memory parameter. Thank you very much to both of you for your quick help. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Music & Artist Information Plugin Performance Question
From the settings panel of this plugin I can see that performance is a major concern and I am getting varied result myself when browsing artists. Sometimes they come in as quickly as you would hope (and I guess they are retrieved from cache at the time) and sometimes the server would hang at certain artist images and block for roughly 5-10 seconds or sometimes a placeholder image comes through where previously an image was returned. The latter only happens in instances where I am not connected to the internet while browsing, but was connected during scans. As DJanGo pointed out make sure you configure the plugin to download the images and store them locally. I'd even move the image files to a dedicated folder where you can manually replace mis-matches or poor images etc. Is there anything I can do to speed up the artist image retrieval? To Most importantly: use LMS 7.9. Set the Performance/Memory parameter to maximum (if you can afford it) add more context, I am displaying the artist images in my Windows Universal App and currently I am applying the following resizing to those images: http://localhost:9000/imageproxy/mai/artist/4572/image_100x100_f.png. I am showing them in a list view which fetches roughly 20-30 images at a time. Have you tried 100x100_o instead? The problem is most likely that the first time you want an image, the plugin has to get it. If you don't pre-cache them, for every image the plugin has to: - check the music file's folder (and some parent folders, too) for a local image - check a potential local cache for the image - head over to Last.fm to try to find image information for the artist - fetch the artwork (if found) - resize the image - return it to you As Last.fm would often return URLs for rather large PNG files, the download of that file alone can take a few seconds! Now to further speed up your use case you (as a dev) can register your custom image size you want to have pre-cached. See the "artworkspec" CLI command. I asked about 100x100_o, as this would by default be pre-cached for the web UI. If you were using the same, your image cache wouldn't explode, and the scan wouldn't take longer as with the additional size. Ideally, I would like all artist images to be retrieved from online sources only during scans and then stored locally (maybe that is actually already happening) and only retrieved from local storage. If an Yes, that's what should happen if configured correctly. am not using the correct settings. Album images, by the way, come back from the server very quickly. Artist artwork should be pretty much the same if pre-cached. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

This finally did the trick, I just had to adjust the playback volume on phone, Squeezebox and Amplifier and it finally worked. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Music & Artist Information Plugin Performance Question
Hi, First of all, I absolutely love the artist images that come through the Music & Artist Information plugin. They add so much more richness to browsing your music and make it such a better experience. Ideally, I would like all artist images to be retrieved from online sources only during scans and then stored locally (maybe that is actually already happening) and only retrieved from local storage. If an image is not available a placeholder image should be returned. Is this how the plugin already works or is this something that could be added as an option? I played with the settings panel of the plugin, but could not find a setting that would always return all images quickly, but maybe I am not using the correct settings. Album images, by the way, come back from the server very quickly. Any insight into this would be very much appreciated. Maybe it is just a way I need to configure my local LMS. Also, I am using the latest LMS 7.9 and the latest Music & Artist Information plugin. Good work, really! Best wishes, Marc. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Yet another Remote Control Plugin - SBNetIO
Nope, they are identical, I've checked again, where did you see "volume-" in my logs... :) ? Now that's a good question: I'm not following on the web based forum, but am subscribed to the mailing list. And there I got that additional dash. Though it doesn't make sense when looking at what that actually is. What you're seeing is a CLI command, but only the first parameter shown (the "volume"). What makes the difference is the second parameter, which would be the value to which the volume should be set. If you check the CLI documentation you'll see that this can be an absolute value, or a relative (-10, +5) to lower/increase the volume. http://htmlpreview.github.io/?https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Logitech/slimserver/public/7.9/HTML/EN/html/docs/cli-api.html -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Just to clarify I do not get any images on Squeeze Ctrl when I use iplayer Extra- I just get the default CD case image... If I then go and select exactly the same program via the Iplayer plugin I get the program image displayed. I have " Always show station icon" unchecked. I also tried this in Squeeze Commander to ensure it was not a SqueezeCtrl issue and it is the same.. I did used to get the images in Extra , however with all the changes over the last year or so I am not sure when it actually stopped as it was a minor issue. I have clean installed LMS several times and each time I have deleted all residual files and directories. With the latest beta Iplayer I have noticed an issue - When I pause a live stream and wait for 30 seconds or so and then resume, the stream seems to jump back a random amount. Sometime it displays delayed by 1 min sometimes it displays delayed by 17 min (the highest I have had so far) If I then use forward, then it returns to approx live. I also notice a related issue when pausing a program in iplayerExtra and resuming I get a display that states delayed by mins but the program appears to carry on playing from the same place. ( last one displayed 24667677 mins delayed) Thanks John Jed1-62's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64233 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106409 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
