This is repeatable for me, it happens every time I try to start a
playlist from Squeezelite (I use the Local player plugin and uses a
Touch as UI for Squeezelite). The Connect part seems to work as it
should, where I can skip and switch between playlists just fine. But
when starting a playlist, any playlist, from Squeezelite, it just
repeats the first song - switching between playlists is working, though.
And it doesn't help to disable Connect, something that did help for
Spotty up until 2.0.

There are 2 Spotty.exe and when trying to skip (having started the
playlist from Squeezelite) a third Spotty.exe is created for half a
second (while trying to skip) and then when the same song starts all
over that third Spotty.exe is being killed.

I only use one player (Squeezelite).

The Android App BubbleUpnP connects to Qobuz (and TIDAL), offers gapless
playback and doesn't suffer from this problem. With a bit of messing
around, it's possible to install it on an Amazon FireTV stick, and while
the user interface doesn't work very well on the FireTV stick, you can
use that as the "renderer" and control playback from an Android phone or
tablet. If you've got an HDMI input on your system, it's a good
solution, but what is this app doing differently to the Squeezebox
plugin that avoids the cut-off?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 2.0.0 - Spotify Connect for your Squeezebox

2018-01-21 Thread jasell

I just updated to 2.1.0 . But now I can’t see any player in Spotify
connect. The players have connect enabled, both under the advanced menu
(new feature) and player menus.

I have restarted the server.

I checked the device settings in Spotify, only local player is off.

Spotty app in LMS works fine!

Any advice?

Noticed that a problem of the first iteration of Connect for Windows is
back. Having ticked the box for Connect for my Touch and then trying to
start a playlist from the Touches interface (not using Connect) makes
playlists repeat the first song infinetly. And Skip just starts the same
song from the beginning. Unticking the Connect box now doesn't solve the
problem, which it did with 1.9.x. I'd rather be without the Connect
feature since this is how I mainly use Spotty.

Next time this happens could you please check how manyspotty.exe

(If in doubt, just disable Connect for all players, it's still an

this behavior by pausing play then continuing but I have a hard time
trying to reproduce the problem on demand.

Ok, I'll try to pause more often. It's hardly ever required ;-). If this
was related to pausing, then it should eventually catch up. Can you confirm?

Wow wow wow, just a heads up and confirmation that Spotty 2.1 greatly
improved the Spotify Connect experience and now listens all Squeezeboxes
available even in multi user scenarios. And the smart
authentication/authorization worked like a charm also for the one
account (out of the 5) using Facebook login to Spotify - after you click
"Add account" in the advanced settings.

Running LMS in a Docker container on a Synology 415+ (on host network,
not bridged).

Sounds like you've opened some of the dynamic ports in the 3 to
6 range, where you may strike lucky if your server frequently reuses
the same dynamic ports.

Airplay doesn't need port 80 and should need anything uPnP although some
routers can do intelligent port forwarding - I avoid this as you never
know if the ports get shut again.

My work around allows the dynamic traffic by working out the route from
the reverse, know the fixed destination that the receiver uses
(6000-6005 and 5000-5005). I limit to only the protocols I know are
required. I prefer not to have a swiss cheese of a firewall where I can
avoid it!

This is all very strange stuff. I struggled as well, and came to a
different set of working conclusions.

allow 5353/udp in from my device (see
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT202944)

Plus other generic incoming settings for UPnP and other protocols for
other music servers. This includes 80 and variable ports in the 3
to 6 range. I don't have 5000/5 or 6000/5 open. I don't limit
outgoing tcp/udp/.

LMS 7.9.1 on VortexBox Midi box, Xubuntu 17.10, FLACs 16->24 bit,
44.1->192kbps.  Touch & EDO. 2nd Touch standard.
LMS plugin UPnP/DLNA Bridge to MF M1 CLiC (to A308CR amp & ESLs) &
Marantz CR603 UPnP renderers.
Alternatively Minimserver & Upplay to same & to upmpdcli/mpd PC

Squeezelite to Meridian USB Explorer DAC to PC speakers/headphones.
Wireless Xubuntu 17.10 laptop firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: AirPlay Bridge = integrate AirPlay devices with LMS (squeeze2raop)

2018-01-21 Thread atca

After an eternity I've finally figured out the Linux firewall settings
to make this work details...

1. First avahi / mdns needs to be allowed through the firewall, this
allows the Airplay devices to be advertised on the network:

ufw allow 5353/tcp

2. Configure the ports to enable Airplay to stream. This is not so
simple as Airplay uses a dynamically assigned port on the server to
stream from, so you cannot just open this port as it always changes.
Matters are further complicated since linux by standard has no
application level firewall - making it impossible to allow and whitelist
the shairtunes 'shairport' application.

Solution - from watching a packet sniffer it seems that the Airplay
protocol commonly uses port 5000:5005 TCP to setup an Airplay
connection. Typically Airplay uses 5000 but if there are other instances
or issues locking the port it seems to try a higher port - so I allow 5
ports.

Once the connection is established by TCP, Airplay then uses UDP to
stream the audio to destination ports in the range of 6000:6005 on the
target device. To avoid the dynamic port issue on the server side I take
the reverse approach - allowing in any packets that originate from ports
6000:6005 within my network and allowing out any packets to go out to
destination 6000:6005 within my network.

This is a little more vulnerable than just opening a specific server
port, as a result I restrict this to within my LAN by using
192.168.1.0/24 ** you should change this ** to match your LAN IP
range.

TCP settings

sudo ufw allow in from 192.168.1.0/24 port 5000:5005 proto tcp to any

sudo ufw allow out from any to 192.168.1.0/24 port 5000:5005 proto tcp

UDP settings

sudo ufw allow in from 192.168.1.0/24 port 6000:6005 proto udp to any

sudo ufw allow out from any to 192.168.1.0/24 port 6000:6005 proto udp

Hi Philippe. Thanks for your response. I've tried that a few times, but
unfortunately even when I choose the static version, it loads the

Chromecast Bridge working successfully with the Stretch version of

Since two days, the connect in Spotify does not work again. The LMS is
not shown in Spotify App, but it should be connected and the settings
should be correct.

I've seen various reports of users who flipped the "only show local

Spotty devices (unless you install the upcoming 2.1.0 ;-))

The group player doesn't have a display. It's just a logical grouping of

Actually, no - I would prefer if you would temporarily "unfix" the
volume of the player while playing in a group. The reason for the 100%
volume fix in the first place is only for having the best possible
quality when listening very concentrated to music on my main stereo
alone... That by definition doesn't apply to the case of having
everything in the whole apartment synced (party mode...)

I know that my main premise (fixed volume = better sound quality) may be
complete snake oil... but nevertheless it gives me the warm and fuzzy
feeling of having done all I can do :-)
