Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce - Song info plugin for FIP radio

The perl bit of code returns this:

This is perl 5, version 18, subversion 2 (v5.18.2) built for
darwin-thread-multi-2level
(with 2 registered patches, see perl -V for more detail)
[plus some legal]

I'm running macOS 10.13.3, in other words the latest, on my Mac mini.

Ok, that's looking good. So you do have SSL support installed.

Do you still advise me to go to LMS 7.9.1? I've stuck with 7.9.0 because
I'm generally wary of betas, but I'll be guided by you.

The "beta" flag is only there because I'm too lazy to call it a release,
build release packages, bump the version numbers all over the place. And
because the build system still is down... but I do indeed plan to
release 7.9.1 as soon as I got the hardware (which is ordered, but...).

So: yes, please give 7.9.1 a try. As of today it is at least as stable
as 7.9.0 ever was.

Oh crap... that's the result of a security related change I recently
applied to LMS: in order to prevent code injection into the LMS web UI
it would no longer render HTML as part of the data to be rendered. What
you're seeing there is the page's HTML code as a consequence of this.
Crap. I'll have to think about the options I have there :-(

Actually... still renders fine in the Default skin (because I've missed
that part of the skin :-/).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce - Song info plugin for FIP radio

Whitman - here are a few things you could try:

Run the following command in the terminal:

Code:

perl -MIO::Socket::SSL -e 'print $IO::Socket::SSL::VERSION'

What does that give you? This command verifies whether IO::Socket::SSL
is installed. This library is required for https.

Also: what macOS version are you on? What does the following give you?

Code:

perl -v

And then please update to the latest 7.9.1 anyway. There have been a lot
of improvements in the SSL/HTTPS area in LMS in the past year.

Buying a Pi3 might be a much more reasonable path forward.

Check whether the faad and sox actually run on your system, try the
following at a shell prompt - you should get banner lines.

/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Bin/armhf-linux/faad
/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Bin/armhf-linux/sox

You are playing HLS format streams. As I have no reference system for
HLS streams, I don't support using HLS so there may be a problem with
timing when streaming and then running faad/sox on ARM processor.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty Connect is visible but does not produce output

thanks for the quick answer. I am afraid it is a Raspberry Pi 1 Model B
revision 1.2 - I remember soldering on the 8 PIN head for the Hifiberry
Digi

Ok, I guess that just won't work. I've seen spotty crash on a Pi0 with
the double of memory.

I also see a different error when the daemon crashes.

thread 'main' panicked at 'called `Result::unwrap()` on an
Err` value: WireError(InvalidEnumValue(13))', /checkout/src
libcore/result.rs:860:4
note: Run with `RUST_BACKTRACE=1` for a backtrace

Hmm... I should probably get you a build with full debug information.
It'll be like 6x larger and super slow. But I'd be interested to know
how it fails there.

Sure, I can get you all the logs, but what do you mean with full
session? Since startup? LMS log? piCorePlayer log?

Sorry, but I just started playing with LMS and spotty, so I still have a
lot of questions :-)

Thanks
